Consider it a good thing and install Open Office.

Or you could look into some file recovery software. Though if they were uninstalled or deleted a windows machine in use likely would overwrite the portions of the disk they formerly occupied making recovery difficult.
Or just reinstall MS office.

Veer's idea is basically correct. First you need to be sure that the program files are present, or not present. It could just be, if you're lucky, that you've only lost the start menu links/shortcuts to the program files. Follow Veer's instructions ( I prefer windows explorer myself ). If the folders and files are there you could setup new shortcuts to the respective *.exe files ( *. just means program name, ie word.exe, excel.exe - etc ). At this time of day my head's a bit fuzzy, but I'll try to get back with more precise details once I've refreshed my thinking!

Take heart though - if it ain't in the bin, chances are you haven't deleted it, be very careful not make matters worse by guessing!

It's easy to accidentally 'save' it to another destination. - It's probably still around your system somewhere. Do a Search (Start menu - Search) and hopefully you'll find it.

Try system restore (type it into help and it will show you how to do it, suspect you are using XP and can't remember how to do it as I am now using Vista)
