So I got the ticket for going 51 in a 40 mph zone. It is an infraction, not a misdemeanor, so I believe that I am not required to go to court, unless I wanted to contest it. However, this happened about a month ago, and I still have not recieved anything from them regarding how much I should pay, nor traffic school options. Basically, I have not gotten anything from anyone. On the citation, it gives me a court date, but it has passed. There is no monetary amount given....Does anyone know what I should do? I looked it up on the court's website, but it says that it is not recorded there yet. I'm almost certain I wasn't required to appear in court because it's not a misdemeanor, but I am not sure now. Thanks for the help!

I had a very similar problem. Call the court. If you can't get through (which will probably be the case if you live in big city-- try getting through in Los Angeles!) Go down to the court and ask them how much to pay.
There might be a warrant out for you, or they might have suspended your license, so get this taken care of ASAP.

Double check on the back of the ticket, still, if nothing, call the courthouse, you will just have a late payment. I got popped for the first time on christmas eve doing 40 in a 30. He said he used rader and didn't show, which they can. However, I took it to court to contest the ticket, the cop got pissed@ me and lied under oath to the judge, for 10 over my ticket in south florida was $176(that wasn't in a school/construction zone or anything either), the judge bumped that up to $300, plus 4 hours traffic school. I also heard if you overpaid, that it would never process right and not ever show up and it would just stay open. I decided to overpay by $1, they just took it, never issued refund, so that's false as well.

Ick!
this sucks.
I would probably call the courthouse and tell them what is going on.
That way you can find out if there is a bench warrant for your arrest.
I got a ticket recently and got NOTHINg in the mail and was told to show up on the court date on the ticket and that was IT!
(I went so I dont know what they did to the people that didnt show).
It was really simple in the sense that all I had to do was pay a fine ($75.00) and promise to stay out of trouble.
Call the courthouse before they have time to file a bench warrant. ask them if there is anyway you can pay the fine.
Dont wait for them to find you.
They might not bother to tell you about the bench warrant and you find out when you get pulled over for another silly infraction (no seat belt or something stupid) and find yourself spending the night in jail.

You ordinarily would have heard from the court, but if you didn't you should have gone in on the date on the ticket. There is no rule that you do not have to appear on infractions. You can take care of a ticket online or in the mail, but you have to start that process BEFORE the date on the ticket.
My suggestion is that you appear in court ASAP and try to take care of it without being arrested on a warrant. If you do so, you can probably avoid a failure to appear conviction along with the ticket.

The fine should be $3 per mph above the speed limit. However, since you have gone past your court date, you may have an additional fine on top of that.
The best thing to do is to go to the county courthouse, find out where you pay the fine, and pay it, because at this moment, there is probably a warrent for your arrest.

You only have to go to court to contest it
You need to go to the court if you can not get a phone number
so you can find out about payment arrangements. If you go in they should let you fill out a form to make payments according to your income. Minimum a month probably would be around $20.
If they say that you were suppose to have started paying on the fine and you haven't they can issue a warrant and then you will have to pay more money and have more complications

Same thing happened to me recently and the officer explained that I could pay the fine before the court date or go to court which ever I chose to do. I paid the fine ($125.00) prior to the court date.
You should get in touch with the clerk of court in your area and take care of this because it will not go away.

I did get one shifting violation after I had stopped at a crosswalk the position there change right into a school. I waited and then some children were crossing the line and walked all the way throughout the line and had stepped on to the sidewalk so i began up slowly to pass. I no quicker had began up even as this bike policeman stopped me. i presumed what the heck did I do. He reported that the little females heel change into no longer all the way on the sidewalk which it mean to him she change into going to run again throughout the line. I were given a cost tag for ninety 5.00. She change into on the different edge of the line from me. I nevertheless imagine he change into incorrect to grant me that value tag. All by using children heel no longer being on the sidewalk. are you able to've faith it? It spoiled my not in any respect having a cost tag record.

In Texas, the fines are listed on the back of the ticket. Did you check the back of the ticket? Also, you could call the local police department and ask them how to determine how much you owe.
