Well, it's good that you are taking her to the vet tomorrow, to make *sure* that there are no health issues; while you're there, you should probably make an appointment to get her spayed.

Some dogs, however, are just whiny and vocal. Sometimes they are spoiled, and they figure out that by *whining* they get their owners attention (so, in short, the dog "trains" the owner to respond to whines and whimpers). :) There are also certain breeds of dogs that tend to be vocal. I don't know *anything* about Maltese dogs, but you might want to research the breed a bit to see if they have a tendency to be whiny or vocal? I have a Husky mix who *constantly* whines, talks, grumbles, etc. -- when he's happy, angry, hungry, anxious, whatever. He's always been that way, and I have since learned that this is *not* uncommon with Huskies.

she could have a bladder and/or kidney infection or kidney stones. very wise to see a vet as soon as possible

well, my german shepherd whines a lot to but she is spayed. she usually wants to play or get my jack-russel-yorkie to play with her.
