After you get in and determine how much you can get by with comfortably, open a Mutual Fund account and have the Air Force direct deposit it each month. When you are retirement age, you will be thankful you did.....trust me.

I don't know about only spending $200 just because most people aren't that disciplined for long. But yes, you can get by with spending very little depending on where you're stationed and if you have an investment plan for your savings you're way ahead of so many out here.

Absolutely. Given the facilities available to you on most bases you can save virtually everything and have a pretty good time while do it.
The first 5 years I was in the navy I was on sea duty. I did not have a car. I was able to save over $25,000 by the time I got married and transferred to shore duty, and that was 1980 when $25,000 could buy a heck of a lot more than today.

lol yes the military always sounds like a good diea because they pay your medical, housing, food etc.. so the rest is all free cash right??? Well I have never met anyone who didnt either spend all the rest on beer, outside food, or taxi faires for those who dont have cars. You would have to be pretty jewish about your spending to get by only spending 200$ a month. ts possible though.

You could... but you won't... Unless you are happy sitting around only reading and working for months on end. Either the boredom will get to you, or living on top of everyone else will and you will spend. You could try it at home for awhile and see if you could stand it tho.

If you live in the dorms, eat in the mess hall, don't have a car and don't leave the base and do nothing.
Yes.
But I have never met anybody who could do that.
