People often get some hoarseness after a cough/cold, but it doesn't always result in losing the voice entirely. It can be anything from just hoarseness to serious hoarsness to completely losing the voice (which I'm just getting over now).

Remedies for laryngitis are: Medicated cough drops, hard candies, tea with lemon and/or honey, gargling with salt in warm water, and, this one is my own preference, the citrus Vitamin C lozenges (that are like cough drops, not the ones that are like Sweetarts).

Don't take decongestants. They can make it worse.

Maybe not. Sometimes your voice goes through those stages before it gets better. Sometimes it takes longer if you keep using it too much. Have you been checked by a doctor? If it persists, it wouldn't hurt to see about it in case something can be done to help it.
Take care.

You want to know if your losing your voice...you people have a problem. You tell us you lost your voice, and then you ask if you are losing your voice. yes, dude. You are losing your voice...

I know in about 3 seconds you are going to ask the question, "well if i lost my voice, is it ever coming back?"

Well let me save you the 5 points, buddy.

Yes it will comeback in a day or 2...

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Yes. If you aren't careful, you will start to lose the ability to talk in higher pitches for awhile. Using a singer's herbal throat spray might help.
