I have a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips in my cabinet. I opened them 2 weeks ago to bake with. There is still half of the bag left. Will they stay good for a long time or should I bake with them soon?

I wouldn't use them once they are past 6 months unless you put them in a really good freezer bag and freeze it.

Since she is a small breed dog, your best bet is to take her to your nearest vet. This is especially the case if she has had seizures before. They may want to pump her stomach or induce vomitting to be safe. It may not sound fun but in the end it would be in her best interest to have her checked out. The ultimate affects of chocolate depend on the amount and the weight of your dog in which case, you could have a very big problem on your hands if she truly got a hold of that much.

They should keep up to 18 month under "perfect" conditions, that is 55-60F and 55-65% humidity. If you want to store them for months, and you don't have a "perfect" place to store them, it's better to freeze rather than refrigerate them.

I just put them in a pretty bowl or candy dish and let everyone eat them like M&M'S. They're invariably gone within days.
