I have naturally curly hair also and mine gets really poofy if I don't put product on it too. I have found that something wet or watery, like a glaze works the best to calm it down. Also as mine gets longer and the layers grow out I look like a triangle head, so I really need lots of layering (unlike your other answer that said don't layer it) Long hair will hold down the curl a little bit, but it's still poofy and gets BIG but when there are layers in it YOU can control it with products. Just remember gel is for hold, mousse is for volume and glaze is to control. Defining cremes work well too after it is dry to separate and define the curl. Don't fight it, that's too much work. A diffuser will make your curl a little more defined, but it will take longer also. I have clients with naturally curly and permed hair daily, and it works for them and me. There are so many products for curly hair now, you can't go wrong. Good luck!

Product is usually best left as a last resort if you have curly/poofy hair

You'll want it as moisturized (without being greasy) as possible so start out by using a good conditioner in the shower (Aussie Deep is great)

Next, as it dries, if you notice it frizzing up try putting a small amount of conditioner in while it's still wet

Lastly, straighten. Citre Shine helps to tame my hair when it's too big

Also, if you put a hat on while it's semi-damp, it will help to flatten it out. And having long hair will weight it down.

Good luck!

Also, I'm a fan of the word "poofy."

Sunsilk Anti-Poof Cream. It's not too heavy, and as long as you only use a little bit, not too greasy either. Just rub a quarter-sized amount between your hands (less if you have short hair) and smooth it over your hair. You can do this wet or dry. I've tried the stuff on my poofy wavy hair and it works really well! You can also use the shampoo and conditioner for more poof protection. You can find it at the drugstore- it's in the blue bottle. Good luck, and hope this helps!

Sometimes if hair is really curly/frizzy it just wants to get out of control. If your hair is thick and curly never thin it/also not alot of layers should be in it. Remember weight holds the hair down.
Do not blow dry it as that will make it poofier. If you have to blow it dry I would use a de-fuzer on the end of the dryer. After the hair is
dry, you then want to add your products/not when it's wet. Try
a gel of some kinda and work through your hair/Not a ton just enough to tame it, again after it is dry. Professional products
are the best if you can afford them. I have known conditioner also
to work /try a leave in cond after you wash your hair, then follow
directions above for finishing. Just a little product goes along way. Good Luck from a professional

Have you tried Garnier Fructis?
They have really nice stuff called sleek and shine and it works really well. Also if you want to spend time on it. Put stuff to make it not poofy in after taking a shower and then straighten it the next morning. Hope this helps!

Do you mean frizzy? I have the same problem. Have you tried John Frieda's Frizz-Ease? It works great on my hair. Something else I've started using is some shampoo, conditioner, and leave in hair creme by Sunsilk that is called de-frizz. It works just as well as the Frizz-Ease, and leaves your hair curly and soft, but it doesn't poof out. Hope this helps!

My mom's hair is particularly curly, too, (yet possibly somewhat below yours looks) and that i stole a go away-in conditioner from her. My hair is curly, yet its more desirable comfortable, so this can no longer provide you the outcomes you want. that's Catwalk Curlesque go away-In Conditioner, by technique of TIGI. i do not imagine they promote it at Walmart, yet they probably promote it at a hair salon or something. It helped guard my curls and it made my hair so delicate and particularly. that's particularly light-weight, so it shouldn't make your hair all greasy. in the previous i began death my hair, I used shampoo and conditioner for damaged, dry, and weak hair, because it replaced into more desirable moisturizing and nourishing. I used the stuff for damaged hair by technique of Garnier Fructis, (yet maximum of their different products suck. save that in innovations.) possibly attempt something like that. I also heard there have been straightening shampoos and conditioners. they help relax all of your curl. i have not easily used them, yet i have heard about them, and that i have heard they're sturdy for only relaxing your hair. possibly use that each and every different day or something. I heard organic Essences has a very sturdy one. possibly attempt putting your hair up and leaving it curly, somewhat of flat-ironing it a lot. yet in case you nevertheless flat-iron it, then use a warmth protectant, to assist provide up the damage a touch. also, you may want to attempt a sculpting spray, to assist save it bright, sleek, and moisturized.

There are several 'curl tamers' on the market, but, a cheaper solution would be to rub any conditioner between your hands ... while your hair is still wet, then run your fingers thru you hair, evenly distributing the conditioner ... works great. :)
