Depends on how old he is. If he is young, he's just learning to respond to that name. Have patience. If he is older, talk to him using his name more often.

Are you sure he hasn't been replaced with an exact duplicate of himself? Maybe it's a cat with a complete body tattoo of your dog all over it? Have you ever taken your dog for a walk and he ran away? He might not like you. Have you ever accidentally called him by another dog's name? You should ask for forgiveness. Get his hearing tested. Does he actually know you are referring to him, and not just talking about him by name? Did you change his name at any point and forget to tell him? Show him the official change of name certificate if you did.

Some dogs are just stubborn. If you're positive that he's learned his name, he's probably just being kinda bratty, just like a kid would. Or if the dog is getting old, it could be a touch of alzheimers.

What kind of dog? Could he be going deaf? Maybe if he's young, just give him time...and treats for coming. Try putting him on a leash...calling his name and tugging on the leash

Well how long have you been calling him his name? If it hasn't been for very long, give it time. If it has been for a long time, and he used to answer to it, maybe you should get his hearing checked out. Good Luck.
