Tea tree oil shampoo is meant to be really good for the scalp and its also very good at keeping nits away as they really hate the smell and stay away! So thats always a bonus!

Tea tree oil is quite drying I think as say if you use it neat on a spot it dries it out totally - which is good for the spot but maybe not so good with dyed hair!
As for your dry dyed bits. Maybe you should try using a conditioning treatment or conditioning mask once a week to help this.

You didnt say if you use a conditioner each time you wash too... if you dont then start using a reconstructing type conditioner as this will help with the dyed parts and keep them strong.

The absolute best is a new brand just coming out called Organix. they have different collections for different hair types that all smell amazing...and they have a Teatree Mint collection. You should check it out. You'll love it!
