controlled by the government. Why the government has not controlled the dentistry field?

Doctors are not controlled by the government with regard to how much they charge. But they are only paid a certain amount by insurance companies (the insurance company decides what they think the patient needs, and how much that would cost, and then will only pay the doctor that much). Same thing for medicare; medicare is like a government insurance company, and they only reimburse what they think the service should cost.

Doctors can go in private practice and charge $25,000 a visit if they want, but nobody will pay it. For people who are not paying with insurance, the doctor can only charge as much as people are willing to pay out of pocket. It's supply and demand.

My guess is that dental insurance works differently from medical insurance. People with dental insurance end up paying more out of pocket, so dentists are not limited by how much they can get reimbursed by insurance; their only limit is how much people will pay (especially for things not covered by insurance, like cosmetic dentistry).

Dentistry isn't a life threat and it's more cosmetic than anything and you don't see a lot of dentists in the political field. Just like everything else, the politicians are making life better for the field they were in. Insurance is proof.

THE DAY THE FEDS CONTROL DENTAL FEES WILL BE THE DAY I DO SOME OTHER WORK.
PHYSICIANS ARE UNDER DIFFERENT COMPENSATION STRUCTURE WHERE THEIR FEES ARE BASED ON A NATIONAL USUAL AND CUSTOMARY CHARGE. WHERE AS DENTISTS ARE NOT.
DENTISTS DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT ANY PARTICULAR INSURANCE, AND IF THEY DO THEY MUST ABIDE BY THEIR FEES. THAT'S WHY SOME DENTISTS DON'T TAKE CHEAP INSURANCE.
