The only time I have had problems with System Restore is when I have had a virus which stopped me from restoring to a time before the virus got it's claws in me.

Do you have access to any dates on the restore?

Personally, I would boot in Safe Mode then try to run adaware or the like and see what comes up.

Have you by any chance updated your security system? This could be the problem especially if you use something as finicky as MaCafee - if not then you may well have a virus/Trojan or some other Malware lurking on your PC.
I can only suggest that you switch off system restore, boot into safe mode and run a full virus/spy-ware/Trojan scan with whatever applications you have installed.
Once completed and any spyware etc deleted/quarantined or disinfected reboot into normal operating mode - switch on your system restore and Manually set a restore point then try loading your pics again, hopefully all should now be OK.

I personally think system restore is a fantastic facility and the only trouble that I have ever had with it misbehaving is when Malware has entered this facility through my own negligence.

So good luck - fingers crossed for you....

Have you tried to run an Anti Virus or Spyware check?
Have you created a new system restore date and restored that because some of your dates may be corrupt? Try creating a new date and restore it just to be sure. I would try a Virus or Spyware check.

Sounds like your pc is in need of repair. Mine went haywire and kept crashing. Even a disk format and windows reinstall didn't help, so I opened the PC up and brushed the dust of the RAM and processor. That helped for a while actually, but after a week I had to take it in and have a couple of parts replaced because they were just dying.
So, it may be your hardware.

System restore shouldn't be relied upon to work all the time. It is possible that you have installed something that system restore is unable to remove to roll back to a previous state.

SYSTEM RESTORE ALMOST NEVER WORKS Especially if you don't have enough free space and if YOUR WHOLE ENTIRE HARD DRIVE is only formatted INTO only ONE DRIVE (C: Drive) then your computer will almost never work when it comes to restoring! If you visit the website below you might learn how to install it properly for once and for all!

A virus attack could disable this feature. Try running a good anti-virus prog first.
