The metal band that goes on your back teeth and attachs to your braces: Mines coming off. Like it keeps sliding up and down. I'm not sure what to do. I cant see the orthodontist until tuesday. Is it ok to leave it that long? I also have head gear. Is it a bad idea to wear it with a band thats slipping down?

Sometimes there is cement failure that makes the bands come loose, and sometimes it's gum or candy or the sheer force of the head gears pressure. Usually I would say it's ok to wait until Monday (not Tuesday) just being careful with chewing. With head gear you really should call your orthodontist on this as he may not want it loose for that long. In the mean time, be careful chewing as it can lift up far enough for you to bite it. So call and let your orthodontist know, he'll will probably want you to come in and let him re cement it tomorrow.

If it's the band that your head-gear attaches to, I would suggest leaving it off. A few days won't hurt. I had a head-gear. Also, your braces should be attached to it with the wire so that may hold it in place until then. Just don't eat anything really sticky like taffy or peanut butter. :o)

Do not wear your eadgear it may slip off and hurt you if your band is loose. If the band does not irritate you (it can if its loose while your eating by keep sticking to the food) then yu can just eave it as it is and there will not be any problem. It will just be for a few days anyway! If it is really bothering you, you can slide it backwards and remove it carefully, but the wire will be long so you may wana stick wax on the long wire!

your teeth probably shifted and caused the band to be looser. if tuesday is the absolute earliest you can go, it will have to wait. i suggest calling your ortho and telling him what' s happening. he'll probably have some advice. if you can't reach him, i'd say don't where you headgear (at least for tonight).
