I don't know for sure if you can or not. But, at the least, you should expect some tough resistance as I have known someone who tired to do what you are doing and he had a hard time as well. In essence to become a police officer or to be admitted to most Police Acadmies, you have to go before an admissions board with most departments, and they do ask quite a bit about your background and all. To say the least, Good Luck! Why not talk to some police officers beforehand, as they should be able to help you out with this question.

I think it depends on several factors. The first thing to remember when dealing with a government entity (city, state, or federal) is that honesty comes first. You want to make it clear up front. Don't conceal it or minimize it. Give all the details that you can.
Only that particular city's hiring policies will tell if you can get hired or not. Why not just ask the question of the Chief of Police?

That depends on the department, some departments are understanding and would hire you.. they may suggest you take an anger management class. Is this your only charge? Also how long ago did it happen? If enough time has passed, they generally excuse things from your youth.

In Canada you cannot be a police officer if you have a criminal conviction to which a pardon has not been granted.
I'm not sure if you can get pardons in Canada for violent offences.

If you were charged with a felony, probably not. If it was a misdemeanor, then you might have a chance. Why not ask a cop? They would know best.

yes. you can.
as long as you have changed your ways, and are truly sorry that for what you did, they will treat you no differently.
if they say they won't hire you because you've got one bad thing on your record, then consult your lawyer.
