I'm going to say it is because people tend to get really worked up before getting a tattoo. You approve the drawing....then the artist cleans the target location......then he shaves you.......then the stencil goes on.....then you look at it in the mirror and say "let's do it," or something to that effect. Then he starts to set up....pour the ink...get the machines ready....this whole time you may be thinking, "what am I doing here?" Until the first moment that machine touches your skin, you an back out from getting a permanent drawing on your self. Your, well,my heart is beating super fast at this time, and I've been through it 15 times. I wonder what would happen if I ever got tattooed by a hot tattooed lady..........

What you're describing is shock. Your body experiences shock whenever it is 'attacked' as when you are pierced by any sharp object. Any injury to the body results in some degree of shock. It is the body's way of preventing too much loss of blood. The cold sweats are a way of the body reducing your body temperature via evaporative cooling.. you turn white due to the shrinking of your capillaries, thus reducing potential blood loss. The way to deal with this is to remember to breath deep and learn to relax while being tattooed or pierced. If you do start to feel light headed, then take a short break, put your head between your knees and breath slow, deep breaths, until you feel better. Then a sip or two of gatorade or pedialite, to restore your electrolyte balance.

mostly it's because their sugar level is low. it's always good to eat a candy bar and drink a pop before a tattoo.. believe it or not, it helps ALOT...
another reason i guess just could be a fear of needles. getting tattooed as far as the pain factor is mostly mental, if you train yourself enough, you can tune it out. along with that and a high sugar level (meaning food in your stomach), you should do a little bit better. and remember, just relax, and enjoy the experience.

Make sure that you eat before getting your tattoo. When getting the tattoo, your body kind of goes into a "fight or flight" sort of mode and it uses up the food in trying to help your endorphines kick in and helping your body maintain that "protection"....You probably started to feel faint because basically your body needed sugar or something. I would suggest eating before and bringing snacks. Apple Juice is also good because it has alot of natural sugars.
Also to let you know, eating actual food is better than eating candy...candy will only give you a "fast fix" and it is used up quite quickly.

That happened to me too. When I went back for my second tattoo I made sure I had eaten lunch first and drank plenty of water during. I was fine the 2nd go round. Bring on #3.

Because we all have diffrerent pain receptors that react differently when something pierces or punctures or even burns. The simplest way I could explain is this: The pain receptors are the good guys and the foreign object is a defender to the good guys when the foreign object gets pierced through the skin the good guys try and kick the foreign object out of the body. it's just the body's way of reacting.
Good Luck!!

It happens because you get yourself worked up to do it, then once you're into it, your blood sugar drops. My ex is a tattooist, and he always kept hard candy. If someone started getting woozy, he gave them candy, and they were fine. By the way, it happens with guys a lot more often than with girls! Not sure why, but it does.
