How would you react if one day, you dropped something, and someone you don't know at all was just walking by you and said, "Have a great day, Jesus loves you."?

hehe.

Sarcasm is welcome. I dish it out enough anyway.

I'd thank the picker-upper. His giving the credit to Jesus would be irrelevant. But it would still be a nice gesture (by THE PICKER-UPPER!)

I'd say, "What did you say? Why do you assume I'm a theist? Let alone a Christian? Sure, the majority of the U.S. is a theist, but 10-15% aren't. Do I LOOK as if I'm deluded enough to be a conformist to theism? I'm not even American. Just because I live here, doesn't mean I'm American. I wouldn't be a theist to be patrotic. I hate President Bush. I barely conform to anything! I'm not wearing tube tops and short shorts now am I? Don't you dare ever say the name "Jesus" to me again, until you find a SHRED of evidence that he existed AND performed miracles. Until then... stay away from me you ignorant person. Oh, and thanks for picking this up and handing it to me. Did you do that so you'll get one step closer to your imaginary Heaven where you'll be stripped of your personality and turned into a happy drone freak? It was your 'deed for the day'?" *leaves before person has time to respond*

:-D

*Awaits thumb downs*

Well, okay. I wouldn't REALLY say any of that. But I'd be thinking it. I'm a polite person in public. I'd just say, "Thanks, I guess. W/e." And then think of all that's above as what I SHOULD have said, but don't have the spine to do so.

Nothing it happens all the time, what would you say if someone said Have a great day Satan loves you. Or someone you don't know helps you find whatever you dropped and said, if only there were more people like me & you

I would say thank you. I do not believe in god or jesus. But that has nothing to do with being a nice person or being courteous. It seems to me that a lot of people think that atheists/agnostics/ non-believers are rude and mean when it comes to the discussion of religion. I do not care what your beliefs are, the only thing that matters are if you are a good person. And atheists/agnostics/ non-believers can be good people as well.

I couldn't care less about the Jesus part but in this day and age anyone who takes the trouble to acknowledge a stranger on the streets gets at least a friendly wave from me.

coming out of the blue, it sounds kind of cult like. I think I'd be as surprised as if someone smiled, waved, and cheerily said "Heil Hitler!" And before anyone freaks out, I'm not saying Christianity and the Nazi's are related. It's just up there with weird, unexpected greetings.

But I'd probably say something along the lines of

"uh...er...thanks."

I'd say, "Thank you." There are kind and thoughtful people all around us. Some of them are Christians, some Humanists, some Muslims, some Buddhists... I live in a free society that cherishes religious freedom; I certainly wouldn't take offense because a fellow citizen did me a good turn and wished me well in the language of his faith.

To be honest it annoys me. I do not throw a fit about it, but it is annoying, and makes the assumption that everyone belives exactly as they do. I understand they say it in the spirit of goodness so to speak, but they can also say, Have a great day.

Just as it would annoy a jesus beliver to have someone say, Thor loves you, or Hades loves you to them.

I would throw it at him. Just kidding. Calm down Christians. I would tell the person thank you for being helpful but ask why he had to be rude. I believe that people should not push their beliefs on others. I know some are gonna say "That's not what he/she was doing." Well then why say it? Why can't people just be nice with no agenda?

Dougie, you are not good with humor, sorry to say... Why do I have the feeling you would (do?) baby talk a pet...

(Oh, and I'd just thank them for picking it up for me...if that's what you meant...think "alrighty then..." over the Jesus bit and be on my way...)

I'd stick my tongue out and go "BLARG!!! SATAN!!!!!! AHHHH!"

No, not really, but it'd be funny. I'd probably thank them since they did a nice thing, go about my business and talk about them with my friends the first chance I got. I really hate it when people say things like that, or "I'll pray for you.." or those bumper stickers that say "In case of rapture, car will be abandoned." It's almost insulting, given my non-theistic point of view.

I wonder how many people that will prompt to pray for me...

Seriously, don't waste your breath.
