Babysitting is so much fun just remember YOUR the boss. This wont be as much of a problem with the 2 year old as with the 7 year old. Play ring around the rosie or other kiddie games, suggest watching a movie. Ask the parents about what they can eat and any allergies to food. Popcorn if monitored with the 2 year old would be ok, or bake some cookies and let the kids help, itll be messy but fun. If you are staying long enough to be put the children to bed make sure you check on them quietly about every 15 minutes. When the parents get home let them know how the day went, what you did together, if there were any problems or other questions. Have fun n good luck!

you could make a little snak, like pretzels which is so much fun and will take you around 30 minutes. The recipe is:

Prep time: about 30 minutesIngredients:

* 1 tbsp. yeast
* 1/2 c. warm water
* 1 tsp. honey
* 1 1/3 c. flour
* 1 tsp. salt

Utensils:

* oven (You'll need help from your adult assistant.)
* small bowl
* mixing spoon
* medium-size bowl
* cutting board, sprinkled with flour
* baking sheet, sprayed with nonstick spray
* measuring cups and spoons
Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
2. Put the yeast in a small bowl with the water and honey. Stir a little, then let the mixture sit for 5 minutes.
3. Mix the flour and salt together in a medium-size bowl.
4. After the 5 minutes is up, check on the yeast mixture. It should be bigger than before and a little bubbly. Add this mixture to the flour and salt mixture.
5. Stir everything together. Use a spoon to start. Finish with your hands. The dough is ready when it's still a little crumbly and flaky.
6. Put the dough on the cutting board and knead it like you are playing with clay. Knead it into one big ball.
7. Break off a piece of dough that's about the size of a big gumball or superball. Use your hands to roll it into a skinny snake.
8. Twist the snake into a medium-size pretzel shape, and put it on the cookie sheet. Do this with all the dough, making 12 pretzels.
9. Bake your pretzels for 10 minutes. Let them cool and take a bite!

Serves: 12

Serving size: 1 pretzel

You could also take some frozen yogurt pops for the kids so they love you from the beginning! The recipe is:

Ingredients:

* 1 8-oz. container of your favorite flavor of yogurt

Utensils:

* small paper cups
* wooden popsicle sticks (available in craft stores)
* plastic wrap

Directions:

1. Pour yogurt into paper cups. Fill them almost to the top.
2. Stretch a small piece of plastic wrap across the top of each cup.
3. Using the popsicle stick, poke a hole in the plastic wrap. Stand the stick straight up in the center of the cup.
4. Put the cups in the freezer until the yogurt is frozen solid.
5. Remove the plastic wrap, peel away the paper cup, and eat your pop!

Serves: 3 to 4

Serving size: 1 pop

You could also try to watch and listen to and then try to act out/sing some of the sillier things they like. Good luck!

Kids love to be helpful do a "Make your own pizza" or decorating cupcake or cookies. Treasure hunts are fun too, like Easter egg hunts only with something else.

My grand-kids still talk about the time I'd baked this large sugar cookie on a pizza pan and let them decorate it. (refrigerator cookie dough open and smooch it flat) I used lemon yogurt and cool whip together as a base then they put kiwi, strawberries and something else I can't recall. They did it in a very pretty pattern too. Then we cut it in wedges and served it to everyone.

As long as they are involved with whatever you're doing they'll be happy. Don't be surprised if the parents already have ideas for you to do.

Good activities include pasting pictures using cut out magazine pages, (the older child gets to use child-safe scissors, the younger one gets to paste), playing games like Candyland (no one ever follows the rules, y'know) and singing songs before bedtime.

Good recipes include anything for granola (find out if there are any allergies first) because it's supposed to look like a jumbled mess when it's done . . . .

Dessert
Tres Leche Cake (THREE MILKS CAKE)

1 1/2 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup plus 1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
5 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
11/3 cups of milk
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup evaporated milk
1 tablespoon light rum
1 cup heavy cream.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together the cake flour and baking
powder. In a large mixing bowl, cream the 1 cup sugar and the
butter with an electric mixer until well blended. Add the eggs and
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and beat until foamy. With a rubber
spatula, gently fold in the flour mixture in increments, alternating
with 1/3 cup milk, until the batter is smooth.

Pour cake batter into a lightly greased cake pan or baking dish,
7 by 11 by 2 inches, and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick
inserted in the center comes out clean and the top springs back
when pressed. Allow cake to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 20
minutes, then invert onto a serving platter. Pierce the cake with
a fork in many places, and allow it to cool completely.

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed milk, evaporated
milk, 1 cup milk and rum until well blended. Pour syrup evenly over
the cake a little at a time, until it is saturated; you may not
need the entire amount. Refrigerate, covered in plastic wrap, for
at least 3 hours.

In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, whisk the heavy
cream until it begins to thicken. Add 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/2
teaspoon vanilla extract, and continue whisking until stiff peaks
form. Using a spatula, spread the cream over the top and sides of
the cake. Serve, cut into squares

ACTIVITIES

For the 7 year old

Activities for School-Aged Children
These children like many of the same activities that toddlers and preschoolers like. These activities include playing with water, cooking, and dancing. Make activities more fun for older children by adding more toys and by letting them do more things by themselves (supervised by you of course).

Most school-aged children are very active. Older school-aged children like competitive games like kickball or basketball. Some school-aged children like to play alone.

Girls tend to like to play with girls and boys tend to like to play with boys.

Help the children make water wave jars. In a jar, mix one part water with food coloring to two parts oil. Tightly screw on the lid. Hold the jar sideways. Rock it back and forth to make waves.

For the 2 year old

Toddlers like to put things inside of other things and dump them out.

Cut a hole in the middle of the lid of a clean coffee can or plastic margarine tub. Make sure there are no sharp edges to cut the toddler. Let the toddlers put clothespins, thread spools, and other safe objects through the hole.

Make play dough. Mix 3 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 3 tablespoons oil, and 1 cup water together. Add food coloring for color. Let the toddlers use jar lids, clothes pins, and popsicle sticks to cut and shape the play dough.

Children love to play with water. Fill big buckets or tubs with water. Give the children soap chips, measuring spoons and cups, plastic bottles, butter tubs, and sponges to play with in the water. Put towels or newspaper on the floor so the children will not slip on the wet floor.
Warning: Children need supervision at all times. It only takes a
small amount of water to turn a fun activity into a tragedy. You
must be careful to never let them out of your sight -- not even for
one moment! Remember, you must be responsible and attentive. Do not allow for any distractions (telephone, doorbell, other children,
etc.) -- if you cannot give the child your undivided attention it may
be best not to do any water based activities.

Toddlers like goop. Mix cornstarch and water together. Let toddlers play with it in a bucket or in bowls with cups and spoons. Make the goop thick or thin.

Ask your local appliance shop for a free refrigerator (or other large appliance) cardboard box. Cut doors and windows in the box to make a playhouse. Toddlers can draw on it with crayons or paint it with water and big brushes or sponges.

Toddlers like to draw with short, fat, unwrapped crayons. Give them paper bags (you can tear them open to make large sheets of brown paper) or large pieces of heavy paper to draw on. To help them draw, tape the paper down so it does not move.

Toddlers also like to play house with dolls and housekeeping props such as plastic dishes and spoons.

Most toddlers are just learning how to walk and run. Go for lots of walks but make sure you hold onto the toddlers hand.

Let toddlers tear old wrapping paper. Then have them paste the pieces to make a collage.

Toddlers can use some swings and low slides at the playground. Do not leave them unattended on any piece of playground equipment.

Have toddlers finger paint with shaving cream mixed with food coloring.

For all ages (the 7 & 2 year olds)
Take a trip to the playground, park, or basketball court. Do errands together, or plan field trips to the library, bank or newspaper office.

Music is fun for everyone. You can make and play instruments with preschoolers and elementary school-aged children. To make shakers, gather some cans with plastic lids. Fill the cans with buttons, bells, and beads. Glue on the lids. Have the children decorate the cans. Make drums from old coffee cans with plastic lids. To make a shoe box guitar, cut a hole in a shoe box lid. Tape the lid on the shoe box. Stretch three or four rubber bands across the hole on the lid. The children can pluck the rubber bands. Have the children play their instruments for the younger children and infants.

TV Watching
You need to ask the parents if the child is to watch TV, how long can he watch and what shows can he watch. The TV should be used only as a learning aid. Children will learn the most from TV if you talk about the shows with them. It should not be used for adult entertainment while children are in your care.

So I hope you have a pleasure babysitting these kids, andthe activities can help them have a good time.
