Most celebrities are not very smart. They are not smart enough to know Al Gore's movie has a lot of deceptions.
Mr. Al Gore's movie left out these facts:
1) 6,000 years ago, the earth was hotter than it is today. 6,000 years is less than a second when compared with the age of the earth.
2) Temperatures dropped in the 1950's and 1990's when CO2 levels were increasing.
3) 140,000 years ago the earth had record CO2 levels and there were no gasoline powered cars.
4) 20,000 years ago, Canada was one big ice cube and half of the U.S. was covered with Ice. The grand canyon was formed by melting ice ages over 20 million years.
5) The temperature of the Earth has only increased by 0.65 of a degree in the last 110 years. There were faster increases in temperatures around 10,000 years ago and there were no gasoline powered cars during that time
6) The theory has not been scientifically proven. Scientists who disagreed with the theory were not invited to contribute to Al Gore's movie nor were they invited to the conference about global warming.
7) NASA has said that great temperature changes are normal. Just 10,000 years ago, the earth warmed up extremely in less than 20 years. There were not many people around at that time.
NASA:
"Rapid changes between ice ages and warm periods (called interglacials) are recorded in the Greenland ice sheet. Occurring over ONE OR TWO DECADES, the warming of the Earth at the end of the last ice age "

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leaders use it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. This issue is 99% political, and an attempt to make the USA a socialist nation, and eventually communisim. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

If we are supposed to make decisions on how to invest trillions of dollars and restructure our whole energy system because of a rock concert we are truely doomed.
People in their twenties believe in global warming. They don't need a rock concert to convince them. For the adults who have the money, and pay the taxes that will have to be spent to fix the problem it looks like a silly stunt at best, a hippie riot at worst.
Look at how rock-stars live their lives great music, but hey their decisions on their personal lives are generally not too smart. I love music but rock-star and other celebrity views are too often just nutso.
Most older people who see the such rock stars will think that it is just another group of potheads that are complaining again.
It so happens that global warming is real but if we are going to do something about it, it is going to take leadership that can appeal to a wide audience. Especially the older people who currently have the money that will go in taxes to fix the problem.
Gore (and those with him) get nowhere by constantly insulting all of the conservatives and businesses. Global warming is not going to be fixed because 51% of the people are convinced we need to do something about it, it will take 90% or more of our countires population. Gore can lead the democrats on the issue, but he has no chance at all of getting his support much past 50%.
Gore is far to partisan to lead the country on this issue. I don't think Bush can do it either. Even when he brings up some good ideas to help fight global warming (especially cellulose to ethanol) the ideas are discredited by the left just because they hate Bush for other reasons, and can't accept the possilbity he is right on anything.
A concert will generate ?? a few million dollars for the effort. The total cost to solve global warming will probably run into the many trillions of dollars. Talk about a feel good pointless act.

In my opinion, no. I think a lot of people from around the world DO already take it seriously(thumbs up!!), but MANY more don't. Everyone should be aware of what will happen to our world if this global phenomenon takes place. In fact, many of us Canadians can already see the effects it's having up North. What with all the ice melting. Other people will say, 'hey, who cares. It's a bit of ice.' But it's way more than that because what NEEDS ice to live?? Polar Bears and Seals to name 2 right off the bat. Polar Bears are extremely good swimmers, but need to rest too. They eat seals, which live on ice. If there's no ice the seals won't be able to re-produce and BAM! That's the end of Polar Bears AND Seals.
That's just 1 example, and there are a lot more. The world should know about this stuff! We need to spread the word around the world so people will act, and we'll try to prevent Global Warming.
But if we keep up this rate, we won't be able to stop it. It will be too late.

Most of the world has been taking global warming seriously for some time--and didn't need Al Gore to tell them. The only ones who haven't been on board for years are the Bush administration and his neo-con supporters. It doesn't really matter what they do--they are almost out of power--and thus out of the way.

Not only does Al Gore have celebrities to confirm global warming, but scientists with research grants, paid to say "yes, there's global warming". That makes global warming true.

A proposed and somewhat proven cause of global warming is the burning and/or consumption of fossil fuels and fossil fuel by-products. Basically anything that uses petroleum or a petroleum by-product can be considered a fossil fuel. One of, if not THE, biggest corporations on the planet is Exxon-Mobil. Now, Exxon-Mobil had profits amounting to over $30 Billion. That's $30,000,000,000.00 Do you really think they want to stop earning profits like that? Do you think they're not going to fight tooth-and-nail anyone or anything that might cause them to lose profits like that? Get real. They're going to do everything in their power, and $30 Billion buys LOTS of power, to keep the status quo. So, even if the average person realises, accepts and wants to do something about global warming, we're not gonna fight the tide of Big Oil.

Why does the opinion of a celebrity matter more than my opinion?
Especially since I am pretty sure that cavemen weren't driving SUVs and working in huge factories to end the last ice age (the actual START of global warming)

Most people consider celebrities to be like a bowl of cereal, a bunch of nuts, fruits and flakes. That's one of the reasons why Democrats haven't been able to take the White House in the past 2 elections.
