So I'm dating this guy and tonight would be our third date. The first two times he came to my house to pick me up and brought me back. He works during the day and in the afternoon he coaches at a middle school. Leaving the school to his house is a two hour drive in traffic. He picked me up last friday but now he mentioned to me that the driving on Fridays is too much for him so he asked if I could come to his house rather than have him pick me up. I'm fine with that but I live with my mother and shes VERY old fashioned and traditional and believes the man in the beginning should come and pick the girl up and take her out. I already told her he was picking me up. I feel so bad telling him I cant cause its not me its my mom. I just dont want her to start talking bad about him. What do you guys think I should do?

Be honest with your mom..explain because of his coaching duties it is unfair to expect him to drive over after such a day. Tell her that while you appreciate her old fashioned ideas, and wished it could work this way. This is a guy you really like and would really appreciate a little levrage on that point about dating.
Coming to her as an adult not only will look better to her, but, she will know how mature you really are becoming, and may give you some leverage with this. Especially if he has picked you up for some dates at your house.

Personally, I think you should listen to your mom. We keep talking about how things are old and old fashioned ,but those are the days when men really respected women better and would go out of their way to see the lady they loved and it would show how interested he really is to you.
a man told me that if he has to work for it then he appreciated it more. So you have to visualize that if he takes a while to pick you up then he is going to be sure to enjoy that time with you. Tell him you will see him the next time if he is not able to come see you at that time. Just say"I understand and I will see you the next time you can come".
Last call-listen to mom-she knows best.

Do things the way you think they should be done. Don't let your Mom's beliefs discourage you from doing what you know is good in your heart...as sweet as Mom may be. If she's a good Mom she won't talk bad about the man your in love with. That's just wrong.

I think as much as you love your mother you need to move out and live your own life..shes already causing you two problems..its not for her to decide, its your life.

i think you should go pick him up and tell you mom you love her but, you have errands to run. *ahem* there is nothing wrong you the girl picking the guy up as long as she can afford the gas money.
