Today at work I was having to move frozen foods from one freezer to another and everytime I tried to hold on to something, my fingertips, just the very tips, burned so badly that I had to drop the items. This was not the usual discomfort you get from yours fingers and hand becoming cold. This was a literal burning, just like with fire. The pain went away fairly quickly once I released the frozen item, but it was very excruiating while it lasted. Is there a doctor in the house?!?

Rapid cooling of your fingers from the heat transfer to the ice from your hands. This causes melting and then refreezing to your fingers, which call feel like burning. I suggest using a glove of some sort to avoid discomfort.

Any kind of extreme temperature can burn your hands.

Cold burns are entirely possible (thats why you never ever touch dry ice with your hands.)
