I used to live on a ranch when I was a little girl, and got bit by ants all the time. Now that I am older, when I get bit by ants, my face gets red, my lips get tingly, and the area really swells. It isn't enough of a worry for me to go to the hospital, but I am pretty sure its an allergic reaction. Can people develop allergic reactions later in life?

Yes, it is quite possible to become allergic to ants. This happened to me. Be careful when this happens, try to keep some Benadryl tablets handy to take when you get bit. People can die from this.

Some people develop new allergies, and others lose their allergies they used to have.
