My boyfriend and I have been together for a while now. We always use condoms while having sex. He was a virgin before and I had only been with one person. I have been tested and no STD's here. I have been on the birth control shot for about 2 months now. Should I ask if we still need condoms? What would be any hesistations in asking?

It doesn't hurt to ask. The important thing is that you both feel comfortable with the decision.

Coming from a guy, I would be more hesitant to give up condoms if my girlfriend was opposed to abortions (not that we want to go there....but you should have a backup for the birth control pills).

If you like the guy and plan to be together awhile, sex is going to be more fun and better without the condoms (i.e. can be more spontaneous and feels better), but should be done responsible (I ask frequently if my girlfriend has missed taking any of her pills)

Bitrh control on it's own still has a small percent if uneffectiveness as do condoms alone. Together the chances of unwanted pregnancies is extremely minimal. You also need to wonder if your boyfriend is indeed faithful. If it turns out that he isn't (and I hope for your sake that he is) and he sleeps with someone else there is a chance that he might be unprotected and become infected form another person which would then be passed to you.

Regardless of your birth control choices condoms are more for protection against stds. Famous last words of millions of lovers were "I thought I was the only one" right before they found out they had herpes or vaginal warts, It's a huge gamble on your part so try and love yourself enough to just use the condom. Before you decide at least take 1 minute and search "vaginal warts" it's so gross and could be in your future if odds play out as they do. Are you feeling lucky?

I would say to get him tested before not using comdoms. I would also be prepared for him to last no time at all, because condoms take away about 80% of the sensitivity. I know I couldn't start having sex with a condom anymore otherwise I would either never get off or go limp.

YES. Nothing is guaranteed, but condoms are the best defense against pregnancy and STDs. It's better than a shot or a pill or anything else (other than abstinance, but guess you're past that).

YES!!

While you two are probably clean, you BOTH still need to use protection. Even if you're on birth control, it's not 100% effective. Condoms can help prevent you AND him from getting an STD you may not even know you have.

though the shot does protect against preagnancy it is still best to use condoms because the more protection you have the better, and remember STDs are always a factor, do you or your bf live in a college dorm? laundry machines and public bathrooms are good places to catch stds without having sex

When you can go beyond "Boyfriend" in your description, then you might begin to think about quiting condoms. Remember it just takes a spat and one night with someone else without condoms to have STDs enter the stuation.

A condom is not only for defencing of any desease. What´s about his test? I don´t give dime on a sentence like this:"you are me first one!" It´s you´re life and your partners and everybody is responsible for the other one. Consider: It´s also good for birth control. Are both of you ready for being parents?
