If you are getting it for an off-road toy, what in the world do you care what kind of mileage you can get? Once off road, in the sand, up the dunes, etc. nothing gets good mpg.

Otherwise, a 79 blazer is an old truck with old tech, very easy to fix, and parts are everywhere. If it's in good shape, little rust, i'll be a good toy.

I have a 99 Durango as a toy. 5.9 V8, does what i need it to do, and is still ok if i need it on the road.

If you can find a descent 1979 Blazer. For an off road toy they are fun to start with. After a while you will be changing things as parts break. As far as mpg goes, you got to be kidding. For off roading means more power and that means more fun. Who cares about mileage.
