It depends on how that family raised their child. Some are racist, some are not. It does not seem to be as big a deal now as it was say 30 years ago.

Prejudice and racism certainly still exist today throughout the world. Even in your own hometown, if you look beneath the shiny exterior, you may find a much dark substance. Older generations still have a very difficult time accepting biracial relationships due mostly to their upbringing. However, that upbringing has been passed along to the younger generations. It tends to be less open now in the "PC" years yet thrives as an undercurrent to our culture meaning a person is less likely to state their opinions as society has made it taboo. I believe Michael Richard's recent outburst was a perfect example of this. He would most likely never say that under normal circumstances, however when the darker side of human nature emerges (anger, jealousy, greed), what truly lies within becomes public.

I live in New York City and I can tell you for certain that racism is alive and jumpin. You will see it in employment in housing and in everyday interaction. The Humans Rights Commissioner of New York City gave an interview last week and was asked if she experienced racism(she is a black woman)She related to the person giving the interview that when she first came into contact with the doorman in her building the doorman asked her what floor she worked on.The doorman assumed that this educated woman was a servant. We have come a long way,but we have much much further to go.By the way I only gave an example of a black woman. There exist in New York City racism for all the "minorities" even though this is considered to be the "melting pot" capital of the world.I will tell you this though concerning the mix race issue with couples.Love is colorblind. To hell with people who have issues with your choice of a partner.Unfortunatly though in some places in America it is dangerous for a black man to walk freely with a white girl.

I think there is still a lot of rascism going around, but its not just the whites being rascist to blacks, it seems everybody is rascist to everybody else. I good movie to watch is Freedom Writers. Its really excellent in showing LA schools and how they interact verses other schools in better neighborhoods. When I was going to elementary school, I was living in CA at the time, I was bullied by black and hispanic students so bad, to the point where we were verging on charges of sexual harrasment and assault and battery. We ended up moving because I couldnt walk to school, even though my house was right behind my school. when I asked them why they'd done all this to me they said it was because I was white and chubby. (It was really just puppy fat. I had a growth spurt and now I'm not overweight) that was the only reason they hated me. To this day I dont trust blacks or mexicans. I'll be polite until they show me otherwise, but thats it.

i think there is a lot of pressure for people of certain ethnicities to marry someone within that ethnicity for exampl on Engaged and Underaged ,(an MTV show) a hispanic girl and african american guy were getting married and their families wanted the 2 individuals to marry people of the same race instead of eachother. I think most families would be fine with it, i am a white girl with black guy and my parents didnt flip so i think it depends on the background and how long the family has been in America

Are you kidding?I've seen like twenty people dating other races.Ofcourse, that's up to the parents most times, but i've even seen it in commercials. It mostly depends on the family that your girlfriend is in and belongs to.
