Yes it was and it violates stae and federal health codes. My suggestion is to file a Federal government's Aviation Consumer Protection Page (http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/problems.htm) and also file a grievance with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org). It's gross and irresponsible what that airline did.

I wouldn't even sit in the seat next to it. But then, they would have to cancel the flight while they have that seat cushion replaced. I wouldn't want the flight canceled either. If it was a full flight, they should have given you a refund or put you on another flight.

I agree with the previous answers. BUT I do have one question for you. Was there other seats available? If not file, file, file, and complain! If it was the only seat available, then could you have taken another flight, or was it so important you had to be on that flight?

Absolutely not!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a health issue as well as just being plain stupid and rude. I would report those flight attendants to whoever you flew with immediately and I would ask for a refund of my money and if that didn't work, I would contact the local news media in your area and ask that they do a story about this. Unbelievable!!! I work in an airport and these stories just seem to get worse by the day.

I think that is pretty nasty and gross. You should not have been asked to sit there (and neither should the people on either side!)
However, if you buy a ticket, you are required to sit in that seat and not change. (If there was a crash, they trace bodies to the seats.)
I think I would have pitched a hissy and demanded another seat or another flight. Probably another flight.

No, that wasn't right. That was showing no consideration to you as a customer. Airlines think they are god nowadays with all of the power they have been given. It's like they are doing us a favor now instead of the other way around. I would contact the company and complain. If that doesn't work, contact the Better Business Bureau. That is just rude. www.bbb.org

That is completely disgusting! I would most definately have DEMANDED another seat... (not to mention how unhealthy this is!) You should fight this for a refund AND an apology!
