Or is he just plain weird?

My cat insists on eating and biting and chewing in flowers that my boyfriend gets me, even to the point that I can't have them anymore, he even tries to eat my cactus if it is not high up.

Yet, whenever I offer him cat grass he turns his nose up at it! What does he want?

Just some basic information, my cat is an indoor cat. I feed him Neutro brand cat food, and he gets regular checkups and the vet says he is healthy.

My cats are the same way. They love trying to eat flowers and plants that they shouldn't, as they could be harmful to them.. but cat grass isn't one of their favorite things. I don't think he's missing anything in his diet, just likes eating things that you dont want him to. :P

Cats just love plants. Make sure that you don't have the poisonous ones (mistletoe, poinsettias, etc). Healthy plants are most ferns, spider plants, some rosemary (not too much) and geraniums. Keep in mind, the one thing that will happen is the cat will not be able to digest the entire leaf or flower and will end up vomiting some of it back up...it's perfectly normal, just a tad bit gross.

My cats love to eat my houseplants. I actually have to rotate a few of them now and then (bring one or two to work) cause they'll eat it to the nubs and the poor plant looks dead on my desk for a month, but as long as the cats are happy, right.

My cats do that too, they seem to love flowers! It's normal for cats to eat various plants, especially if it's the only plant material indoors that they like. They tend to like some flowers (like baby's breath!) more than others, so it might be useful to find out what your cat won't eat and tell people...

I would also suggest maybe finding a good plant to distract him with. Grass isn't always the best. I used to have one of those ornamental shamrock plants and after I found out that my cat went absolutely crazy trying to eat it, I kept it in this hanging plant cage (but sitting on a table), so the cat could nibble at the bits of leaf that came out of the cage without destroying the plant. (Just make sure if you get a plant that it's not poisonous!)

Actually, a hanging vase or an ornamental cage might be a good place to keep flowers if you don't want your cat eating them. You can also find planters and vases that mount on the wall.

Cats are strange this way. My cat likes to drink flower water and I used to have another cat that ate only the buds off baby's breath. I know that cats naturally eat grass because it's supposed to help with digestion. Have you offered him catnip? It's hard to say if there is anything in particular that he really wants.

My cat has the same problem. There is nothing missing to the diet. I think cats just have a tendancy to eat plants. And also, maybe he doesn't like cat grass.

uhmmmm... if my cat chews on indoor plants (and many are very toxic to them), I'd get rid of the plants and just get plastic ones :( I know, I know... but best be safe than sorry. After all, we can't watch our beloved kitties every second of the day and they do get into things they ought not. Ask the BF to give you jewelry instead of flowers nxt time (hee hee hee).

Have you tried catnip? Or better yet, offer some to your cat.

Maybe not enough mice in his diet.
