here is a great site to help you take care of mom and puppies> http://www.thepetcenter.com/gen/whelping.html

She may be running away because she is a breed that loves to run, and explore..such as a hound , a husky, or some terrier breeds. That is just what they do, and not much can be done but use good fencing..

However, getting her spayed will ceratinly solve the problem of future puppies..

Call 1-800 SPAYUSA to find the cheapest spay program in your area..

If your dog is in Labor, why are you on the computer?

Ugh, there are so many issues here. First, why did you not get your dog fixed? Secondly, why do you allow her to run away? Dogs should not be left outside unsupervised - it's asking for trouble. How bout keeping your dog inside and being more careful when you open doors?

We have no idea who the father may be. If your dog is in Labor, call the vet and start doing Internet searches to help get you through it. Find out the phone number of a 24 hour clinic in case there is an emergency. And if any of the dogs need medical attention, call a vet - don't come back on here asking for advice. Seconds are crucial in whelping and in puppies.

Start finding homes for the puppies NOW. Here are some helpful tips: http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/guidelines_for_finding_a_responsible_home_for_a_pet.html

Also, visit http://www.petfinder.com and start contacting some of the no-kill rescue groups. Tell them you have no idea what to do with the puppies. Follow their advice and see if they can offer help in caring for them and placing them.

Get your female dog fixed as soon as the vet says it's ok. There is no excuse for this type of irresponsibility.

generally when a female dogs runs away it is because she is in heat and she is looking for a boyfriend. If there are any males nearby that may be loose then one of them is probably the father. If you get her fixed is should help on her running away. after she has the pups see about getting fixed. Good luck to you

Well when she gives birth, make sure she has lots of water availible, and a bed with newspaper, then sheets,or towels. Also make sure the puppies are healthy,no sick, and about 1 weeks after she gaev birth, take her and the puppies to the vet to get checked out. After you gave the puppies the first shots, and they are weaned to dry, regular dog food, then they will be ready for a new home.IF your gonna sell the puppies, they must be 8 weeks,if your giving them away no younger than 7 weeks. After the puppies are gone,I recommend taking momma to the vet immediatly, and getting her fixed to prevent this,and/or fixing the problem why she keeps getting away.Hope I get best answer, and helped.

You need to get her spayed and you won't have these problems. The father could be any of the male dogs in your neighborhood. She will run away when she comes into heat.

She's in heat. a dog goes through heat every 6 months.
get her spayed a local spca. or vet.
re: birth. stay with her to calm her down make sure she's able to deliver by herself. U might have to help with that. she will start panting heavily. keep her in a quiet warm room away from children and noise. this is tuff enough for her. it could take up to 1 hour for her to start the birthing process.

Well, if she is about to give birth, it's a little too late to be thinking about all that. When she's done having pups, take them and her to the vet to make sure everything is ok. Find homes for the wee ones and get your dog spayed.

Kaley I thought you just got a new puppy that was 8 weeks old and your two dogs were both the same breed. What's going on?

First of all, the problem on hand. lead your dog to a towel lined cardboard box. She will do the rest. Do not handle her babies for the first few weeks. If she moves them elsewhere, leave them there.

Secondly: Get your dog spayed and its puppies so this weont be a problem again!

Also, put nup a big fence and keep a bloody eye on your dog!
