Blowdrying your hair can dry it out, causing it to flake, the dry scalp causes hair to fall out, if it is on the severe side. Start by blowing out your hair less. Also go to the salon. The stylist will reccomend a shampoo that will BOTH help moisturizer your scalp and stop the hair from falling out. For your situation do not wash your hair more than 3 times per week. It robs your scalp of its natural oils. (2 times may not be enough, 3 times is better, 4 times is too much for you)

Second, Try biotin at the vitamin shoppe online, Vitamin E, or hair, skin and nail vitamins...they help A LOT! (Biotin will probably help a lot)

Third, drink a lot of water you may be lacking in overall hyrdation.

All of the above will hlp you combat the problem from the outside and the inside.

Good Luck!

PS- what you are going through is somewhat normal..more normal than you think. It is good that you are trying to catch it before it becomes a bigger problem.

dandruff comes from dry scalp so not washing it but only twice a week is a no no try about every other day. There is a product called cholesterol. what you do is take a nylon brush with a lot of bristles comb your scalp all over to loosen the dandruff. Then you will apply the cholesterol on your scalp everywhere. Once you do that massage your scalp this will make the blood circulate more and help make your hair grow. once you finish that go ahead and put the blow dryer on your head for 10 minutes. You can also use mayonaise it is just as good but it stinks. I do scalp treatments every friday on top of washing my hair every other day and it works great. you can get cholesterol at any beauty supply.

My hairdresser told me that most dandruff shampoos make dandruff worse. Try using a moisturizing conditioner (any brand is OK) and limit hair dryer use. If this doesn't solve the problem see a dermatologist (skin doctor).
