I got braces in my teeth a few years ago, after the treatment was done, i got this wire behind my lower teeth put in, and i have had this for about a year now. This week, a small piece broke from behind the lower front teeth, it looks white and there is a small hole behind one of my teeth now, I was wondering if this was a piece of tooth or not, because it looks dried, and no tooth like.

This also happen months ago, and there was a hole too, except after a while, the whole filled in.

Seeing a dentist might be a little more helpful then asking us.

After I had my braces removed it took a few years for some of the adhesive to break off from my teeth. But to be on the safe side you should get to a dentist asap and have them check it out. If it was a piece of your tooth than at least you can get that filled in and you wont have to worry about an open tooth that would be prone to getting a nasty cavity.

The lingual bar you have is held in place by the same material used for white fillings. These can chip and break off. Its a good idea to see your dentist as the spot where the break happened is now rough and a perfect place for cavity causing bacteria to hide. You put alot of time and money into the braces, don't let it slide now.

If you feel the tooth with your tongue and feel a piece missing then obviously its part of your tooth but you should have someone else look to be sure.

It is probably the adhesive used to hold the wire in place.
