Does anyone know of any well know pet shops around Houston, TX?

If you are looking to get a dog, do NOT buy one from a pet store. Every single puppy from a pet store either comes from a puppy mill or a backyard breeder. If you are looking for a pet supply store, can't help you much, except I prefer buying stuff from stores that don't sell live animals (not even fish).

I'm sure they have Petsmart and Petco. If you're even THINKING about getting a puppy from a Pet shop, DON'T! Let me guess, you want a Yorkie? Do some reading on Puppy-Mills and then find a reputible breeder in your area.

Yes, someone does. Espeically puppy mill breeders and the vets who treat these poor dogs.
If you want a dog, find a reputable breeder or a rescue group. DO NOT support pet shops. They are the worst possible place to get a dog. Newspapers, internet ads, yard signs, and similar places are almost as bad.

There are a Petco and PetsMart in downtown Houston, if that is what you are looking for. If you are looking for something in the suburbs or the area around Houston, you should state a town or ZIP code.
