I don't think 18 is considered an adult when you turn 21 that is the legal age.

18 is considered an adult because that is the age when we can send our men and women to war. We wouldn't want to send our kids to war so that is why 18 is the number.

What I want to know is, if 18 means adult then why does it take to 21 to buy booze? I mean, you can go fight in a war and sign a legal contract, but can't get beer. How strange!

That's what the USA decided. Other countries have different legal adult ages.

well because http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ard7UkVhmqgbtoa.64Jf3cQjzKIX?qid=1006040313027 and it's the law. It's a weird law because some 18 year olds act and think like 8.
You're still technically a TEENAGER at EIGHTEEN, so I don't know why that girl said that.
