There a difference between health junkies and people who want to look good. Also consider that smoking is an addiction to some. Its not easy to quit from one day to the other. Some people have unsuccessfully tried to quit for many years.

Smoking speeds up your metabolism and makes you loose weight in other ways too. I'd imagine these are the people who are trying to look skinny and they believe that the cigarettes help, also because smoking deminishes lung capacity they have to use anarobic methods of turning ATP into ADP, which are slower and less effective, but when you're trying to make your body work harder (and therefore lose more weight) skrewing up your resporatory system may be quite effective.

Want to hear a sad truth? A co-worker of mine quit smoking for about 2 months. But when she noticed that she was spending all day eating cheetos and getting fatter, she decided to take up smoking again rather than working out.

Yes, it would appear they are defeating their purpose. However, nicotine is a drug, and a very addicting one at that. It's very difficult for some people to quit, even though they know it's bad for their health. So they probably compensate by doing other things that promote good health. For all you know, though, they may be trying to quit and haven't yet been successful. Give them the benefit of a doubt.

Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances in the world. It's one of the hardest addictions to break. They may go to the gym to counteract their smoking. Or they may just like to be healthy with the exception of their one vice, smoking.

For me, I was addicted to the nicotine before I started working out. I know I need to quit and know the negative effects but until "I" get the will-power I need to do it, that's not going to happen so why sit on the couch in the meantime??

Everyone knows that cigarettes are healthy. When was the last time someone pulled a muscle smoking, or dropped one and crushed there foot? When was the last time doing a power squat looked cool! Its science.

You know what?
There was a European weightlifter in the Olympics who smoked 50 cigarettes a day.
He won gold, however his name escapes me.
I'm sure he died young, like most idiotic smokers.
Toilet, however, complies with Mary Jane.
Wang?
