Wedding Decorating Ideas?

Question

We have not set a date yet but we are considering an outdoor wedding. I perfer natural colors and materials. Are there any places who have products or ideas. We will not have alot of money for the wedding so I need mostly DIY tips Please

Thank you so much to ones who responded already, I already had a few ideas similiar. But it is so nice to hear it from people with experience and a fresh idea or two. I am not going to vote for a best yet because I want to see what others have to say.

As its natural and you have not set a date yet, stationary could cost you a fortune, why not go to your nearest garden center, buy a sack full of different shaped Grey slate or large flat pebbles and enamel paint or gild your own wedding details on each piece of slate, tie a colored ribbon that will match your floral arrangements. Your RSVP slate/large pebbles, you can keep which will make a memorable feature in your own garden in the future. It wont cost you alot, only your own input. Slate is light, so it will not cost major for postage.If your having your reception outside, or know someone who has a very large garden, you could have a buffet style top table (pasting tables put together) which can have a make shift canopy made with hessian, (sack cloth), which is very cheap and you can pleat it and ruffle it and spray it any colour or glitter it, add berry lights (again which you can either use in your own home or decorate your own garden with) I'm sure everyone you know has garden furniture that you can use. You could potentially have a great outdoor reception, you can cover with cheap cotton sheets that are dyed to coordinate with your bridal wear, topped with natural organza a good fabric shop will supply this. Its alot of work, but its fun, cos you will have a unique and designed by you, wedding. How lovely. Good luck.

Well - there are lots of good ideas for decorating a wedding. One would be to make small baskets and fill them with finger food snacks (popcorn goes over well and I've seen this done at a wedding before - very nice). Also you could get little hershey kisses, wrap them in mesh and put a little tag on them that say "kisses from the mr and mrs". Depending on when the wedding will be, you could start a small indoor garden, grow some fresh flowers now and have some lovely fresh flowers for table decorations or bouquets in time for the wedding. Start looking at the large decoration stores (like party tree). They usually have out of season things on sale pretty cheap and you could get some great things for a little money. I would use white paper covering for the tables (you can buy this on a large roll). If your indoor garden is successful enough, you could dry some of the flowers and sprinkle them down the middle of the tables for decoration. Hope you have a beautiful wedding! And Congratulations!

I'm getting married in late September and also hope to have the ceremony outside. We've rented an old heritage home, which is also one of our communities' cultural & arts centres. For only $400. (Canadian) we have the main floor of this gorgeous old house (including kitchen, extra rooms to set up the buffet, bar, etc.) and beautiful park like grounds - from Friday at 4pm right through until Sunday at noon! We plan on having the wedding start around 5 pm Saturday so this gives us time for set up and clean up. Even if we decide to hire a caterer, this still saves us about 2/3 the cost of renting a ballroom in a hotel.

A friend of mine is a teacher and suggested hiring 2-4 students who are desparate to raise money for their girls basketball team tournaments. The girls will help with set up, oversee the buffet (keeping things topped up) and help with clearing and clean up.

We're also making our own wine and have had fun experimenting so far. Those wine kit places usually allow you to make 30 bottles or a wine for about $120 - $170. So we'll have a case of red, a case of white, and pick up a keg or 2 of beer (and some champagne for toasts).

We were going to have disposable cameras but we've heard from a few different people who say that they received far better pictures from guests who had brought a digital camera. I thought I'd figure out some way to mention to guests that any and all pictures appreciated.

For decorations: we're renting strings of those little lights for both indoors and out. My colours are red and white (mostly white) so I plan on covering the tables with white sheets and sewing red table runners, napkins. Centerpieces will consist of a single bud vase with a red rose, surrounded by tealights. We'll also have small Danish (my finace' is a Viking) and Canadian flags (both are red and white) placed on each side of the centerpiece.

Depending on when you get married and where you live, you can use your location to your advantage, i.e. get married in a rose garden/park where there is a lot of flowers/plants. Our wedding is in the fall and definately we are focusing on the fall leaves. It is also on a small lake, so we will not need to do a lot of decorating for outside.

Definitely visit a local shop that sells flowers, plants, etc. You will be able to find a lot of natural products for decoration like raffia, twigs, pine cones, trees, leaves, etc. Depending on your season, you can also incorporate seasonal fruits and vegetables (grapes, pumpkins, gourds, etc. for a fall theme) Even your local craft store (Joanns, Michaels) will have materials that you can use. Don't rule out local florists who may be able to decorate your area for you using your outdoor theme. It definitely will be less of a headache to have someone decorate for you.

The best thing i ever did for my wedding was buy disposable cameras and put out 1 for each table . It took time to develop them but the pictures were wonderfull.
I got pictures of things that a regular photographer would not have taken.

Try looking on wikipedia or google....under weddings and ideas...I think alot of scattered candles of different sizes would look nice. Or a lot of those tiny twinkle lights put in trees and shrubs would look pretty.

If you like the look of natrual materials....get brich bark pieces (buy from craft stores or online, it comes ina slightly curved shape, if you are doing long tables you can fill the bark pieces with floral oasis (keeps flowers freash when soaked in water), and fill the oasis with flowers and moss so its drapping over the edges of the birch bark. Very natrual and eartly look that is still classy for the out doors

I think the nicest idea is to do it seaside.
And the best colour for it is Blue, white and siver with pink.
Pink represent you as a women into it.
You can make your own crafts with sea stuff that will really look, nice and unique.

We order pewcones from http://www.pewcones.com and hung them on the church pews and entrance doors and placed floors in them. Everybody loved them and they were pretty cheap too for the great quality.
