Any Medical Billers that can answer a question for me?
What do i check in box one for TRICARE (champus or other???) for a retired person and also box 1a can I use ssn or ID number please help

If the card has an ID on it you would use the ID and the group number if one is listed. In this case you can mark other and you'd file to the address on the back of the card. If the patient only presents a Military ID card, you would use their social security number and you can mark Champus in box 1. Those claims you would file to the Tricare for that patient's region. You check in box one for Tricare or Champus if you're covered by US Miltary insurance.

If they don't have Tricare or champus, don't check anything...

1a, use the ID...

If it is for military I you would use the ssn and champus, but if it is for another company and they have ID #'s then I would use that.
