First off- DO NOT listen to anyone who tells you the colors are ugly and all those other rude remarks. Let me remind you that your wedding is YOUR day and your spouses and NO ONE elses! So, it doesnt matter what anyone else says. I think that black and gold are very elegant colors and i think the wedding being in October, it would be very nice.
As far as flowers goes- IFor October, how about cosmos? These cute flowers come in all sorts of colors like , red, yellow and orange . You can also try flowers like mums, roses, hydrangea, and gladiola for your October wedding.
Colors that will complement you wedding are burnt oranges, deep golds, burgandy, and deep reds.
Hope this helps.

I think it would be nice depending on how you do it. If it is subtle gold and not tacky shiney cheap looking it would be beautiful. Also, it should definitely only be used for an evening formal wedding. It would not be appropriate for a daytime wedding in my opinion. I am sure it will be beautiful. You could do black dresses with a subtle gold sash or something. Black table clothes with a gold accent in the middle or on the chairs. I like the idea, My sorority colors are black and gold and I have been to many tasteful events decorated in these colors. Avoid the shiny look and think soft satin, a dark deep gold. What flowers would you have? I would have something cream or white. Red would make to tacky to me. Too seductive. good luck... I am doing a summery/spring time Tour de France yellow... which I never would have dreamed of using 'cause I am not a fan of yellow. But I am marrying a cyclist/racer and we are going to the Tour for our honeymoon. It will be beautiful. I am making it work and I love the idea.

I Would choose a cream colored flower, possibly Carnations these can be tipped in any color you choose, or maybe some white Calla Lillie's that have a little color already on them. You may want to re-think the gold color, black dresses are very sophisticated but when you start adding a sash or bow or whatever of silver or gold it does take away from the look. You could keep your gold color but use it in some decorations at your reception, or maybe some gold bows on the back of your chairs. Congratulations and Best Wishes to You and Your Fiance'.

Wow! Those are dramatic colours you are choosing - but it sounds great. I would suggest avoiding those colours directly because it will probably not look right. However, my thought is something really simple, probably in a pale cream or white colour. Calla lilies, white roses - those would be my suggestions. Keep the bouquets very simple and most importantly, ask a florist what they would recommend. They'll also have a better idea of what is in season.

Florists really will know how to compliment your wedding. My florist was fantastic at our inital meeting.
I think your flowers will be your opportunity to add a little more color. I would look for richer colors to keep up with the black and gold... maybe red, dark blue or purple.

Any beautiful fall colors would be nice. Try looking at mini calla lilies in a rust color as the main flower. You could also use autumn leaves and pumpkins as decoration. You can also use black ribbons in your decor and bouquet.

those were my school colors and we were the Pirates! So I can't understand why you want such ugly colors.
