My fiance's brother is getting married, and we have no idea what to get them! They are not registered anywhere. They have one baby, and another on the way, but I don't want to get the BABIES something. I want it to be practical, thoughtful, cool, unique and nice but not TOO expensive! Any ideas? Thanks!

They aren't living together yet (his baby and her baby are not from each other!) so they don't have a house or anything. Also, it's a really last minute wedding. Should I sent the present before I go, take it to the wedding, or give it to them personally while I'm there?

Money is where it is at. it is what everyone wants but doesnt want to ask for. Gift cards are great.. Something personalized like a blanket (www.thingsremembered.com) or something to hold there marriage liscense maybe even a frame. Oh or a pic frame for a pic of the new family...maybe take them to get there pics taken so they have something to represent the new family coming together....

I am getting married in less than 20 days and I can tell you the best gift is A gift card or cash! If they have yet to find a place together they may have no where to put anything- also they may need last minute items for the wedding that they could use the money for also. If you really want to get a present do some thing with a monogram! Personalizationmall.com has the really neat things.. Hope this helps!

Every wedding I have gone to in the last three years I have given the same gift. It has always been very much appreciated and cherished.
I go out and buy a plain wooden box. In the box I put a script that I found in a book by Jill Connor Browne. The story is basically this.
A young couple who had just gotten married was visiting the home of a couple who had been married for many years. The house was decorated with all kinds of exotic things, but the mantle was empty except for the plain wooden box. When asked about it, the old man said it was their marriage box. Every day they put something in it to remind them of how much they love each other. The young woman looked in the box and found it empty. The old lady explained that they never actually put anything in the box. They just look at it every day and think of something nice the other one has done for them. The box has become a storeroom of all of their good times together so that when things aren't going so well they have something to fall back on.
This gift is easy, usually costs less than $10 and everyone loves it.
Good luck.

This would work out the best if you live anywhere close to them, but it still works if you don't. If you don't live close then tell them to find a close friend to take the two kids who can keep them for an evening. Give them a gift certificate to the movies and a gift certificate for ice cream. Also give them a bag of balloons with instructions to fill them with water and throw them at each other. Next have a fun game like Dirty Minds (you can get on the internet or at Spencers) or a relationship game like Syncrohearts or Relationship Tightrope (both on the internet). Finally there is a book called All About Us which is a book that both he and she fills out answers to.
All together it would cost about $55 if you got everything. You can pick a choose. Granted my husband and I don't have any kids, but this was the best present my husband and I got for our wedding. It is perfect for a fun weekend day together when it gets warmer.
Hope this helps!

Try an antique store, or go checkout a goodwill, yard sales. Something like a Armoire is nice. A Curier Cabinet (Not sure if I spelled that right. But my mom used to have one. They are used to place things like figurines and pictures in, and it has windows all around it to put the items inside, on display.). An old lamp or chest or side table.
But I guess this will work only if the couple is not all "modern day"! Maybe this will still give you some ideas if they are. Good luck! Its always harder to find a good gift when you're closer to that person!!!! LOL

Buy them something they really, really need for their house. If the retailer will ship it - let them ship it with insurance.
Go in with others and get them a weekend retreat at a nice bed and breakfast for a honeymoon - just the 2 of them.
Other nice gifts -
Feather duvet
Kitchenaid Mixer
Good cookware
Oil painting or good art print for living room
Good set of reasonably priced china
Egyptian cotton sheets
Electric blanket - with dual controls, please
Flowers by the month
Dinner out by the month - adult places, please -- no kids
Theater tickets
For her - Day at a spa
For him - Day at the sports/pool hall

Cash or gift card for cash is probably best since they already have a household established.
