It is generally accepted everywhere in the US that I know of that shooting an intruder in your home is justifiable homicide.
Make sure you kill them so you can't be sued. and if you do it on the porch, drag them inside.
BTW, I'm a gun toting, extreme liberal.

Really depends on the circumstances. There has to be some sort of real threat of physical harm, not just them being there and you wish they weren't. You are not saying whether you are talking about someone who breaks in, in the middle of the night to harm you, or if it's your daughter's boyfriend that you wish wasn't there. both could be unwelcome but you don't get to go around shooting people just because they are unwelcome.

A stranger, unwelcomed and enter your house is an intruder and definitely you can shoot him because he invades your privacy, however, it all depends on what the purpose of this person and what's your purpose in shooting him. Is he a suspected robber or somebody who will bring you harm? There will probably be an investigation because we just don't take life easily in our hands if it doesn't pose any danger. It will all go back to the intention of each party involved in the crime scene.

Depending on what state you live in you may or may not get in trouble...The state that I live in (Michigan) just passed an new law that if you have intruders in your home and have a gun, you have to anouce that you have a gun and tell them that you will shoot. If they still don't relent then you can shoot to kill and not get in trouble. Some states like I said may be different, look it up online to be sure. But most likely if you feel that your life was in danger of this person then no you most likely can use the self defense plea in court.

If you had reason to fear for your life or the lives of those in the house yes. However if he turns and runs, and you shoot him in the back you'll be charged since you no longer had reason to fear for your life. Just entering the house generally is not going to be grounds, especially if after entering and being told to leave the person starts to do so, or if he refuses to leave he can't act in a manner that would give you reason to believe your life or others is in danger. Call the police if he refuses but does so in a manner not to threaten your life. If he threatens your life, shoot first, then call the police. Also make sure to shoot to kill, in a lot of states if you don't shoot in a manner to kill, but rather only injure, you'll be charged with attempted murder since they consider that you weren't in fear of your life.
