For some it starts out as an experimental thing and for others it's a way to numb whatever pain their in, or they feel like it helps them to cope with thier stressful lives. Like any "bad habbit" they just have to stop it. They have to convince themselves that they can live without it and learn to live without it. I'm trying to quit smoking so, I can relate. I can go a few days without one. But then I'll let my cravings get the better of me. I know I don't need them, I know that their bad for you. But I can't help it. It's almost like somebody trying to stop biting their nails.
I'ts so hard to quit once you start, cause it's become "routine".

There are various reasons. Since before recorded history man has sought to alter his consciousness, alleviate pain, and seek enlightenment through plants and substances derived from them. This attribute is inherent in human AND animal nature.
People do drugs because they want to feel better and/or "different." They do them because drugs can help them sleep--or stay awake.
Some drugs are addictive--most are not. When people become addicted they take drugs just to feel "normal" and not get sick.
When drugs no longer provide pleasure and/or cause problems for one's life and threaten health that is when many decide to quit.

I think people do drugs for either 3reasons. 1)They are trying to find something to turn to for whatever stress they are having,2)They can't stop ,they like the feeling of not feeling,or 3)There trying to be cool in the eyes of others or it's some kinda out look someone will have on them if they dont do drugs(so they think).

Peer pressure, televison, celebrities.......
When they finally hit rock bottom or their life is on the edge, some actually realize that they have to adjust and change their life in order to turn their life around. It doesn't always work this way b/c drugs are addicting but sometimes they have outside support such as family and good friends that push them to stop.

Because people around them do it, and they want to be accepted.. you don't just wake up one day and decide you gona snort some coke or shoot some herion.
Then after a while, they either find out its either stupid, or they become addicted and can't quit and will do anything for it.

When your getting "high" you want to know if you can get any "higher" so you experiment with other drugs. That usually start you down the wrong path of destruction.
