I'm for it because of safety reasons. Before the rule, you had all these lap cars racing back to the line, irregaurdless of the caution.

I don't really like the rule... But, Drivers have to have someway to come back from a lap down. Now that they cant race back to the line(like back in the good ol' days), they have to find a way to let drivers earn there lap back. Until they figure that out, The Lucky Dog Rule must stay. I wish someone would come up with something better though, because I totally think it sucks. Maybe every lap-down car could start @ the tale-end of the lead lap, infront of the other cars? WHo knows...

I use to like it but now days guys like Jimmie Johnson use it way to much. How many races have you seen that guy 2 or 3 laps down early and use that to get a top 10 by the end of the race. They need to examine that rule alittle more.
And by bringing in the car of tommorow which is a car all about safety why not get rid of the lucky dog and let them race back to the line since they are 100% safer right?

As you will see from my source I'm a more a fan of the way things were done before. I certainly understand the safety issue involved, but don't recall a large number of incidents that had occurred as a direct result of racing back to the line. To me the luck dog rule really only serves the purpose of controlling the field, and making for more unneeded controversy.
I would rather they race back to the line, or simply not be able to get a lap back under caution.

The rule has its good and bad points. It is good as far as safety goes but it also takes out another level of competition which seems to be the direction NASCAR is taking with the many rule changes lately. If you are a lap down that is where you should remain. It should be up to the driver, his team, and his car to do the work to move back up, not a rule.

I understand it but I don't really care for it. I hate how a guy can work his way back after being 5 laps down. Personally I think a driver should only be able to be the luck dog once per race.

It does have its good points and its bad ones... some drivers do tend to take advantage of it and others were too rough or careless in racing back to the stripe, so its a knife that cuts both ways. NASCAR steps in and this is what we have now. But I feel if you end up a lap down then you should earn it back not be given it back.

I like the lucky dog rule for safety reasons but I do think that there should be modifications to the way it works. Like regulating how many times you can receive it during a race. Kinda like time outs are in football.

If your a lap down you should stay a lap down unless you can race your way back onto the lead lap.

I liked racing back to the stripe much better. It added for a lot more excitement and i did enjoy when certain drivers were selective in who they allowed to get a lap back. This added to the rivalries in my opinion.
