Hon, this is the BEST love, and the TRUEST. So, there is no spark, huh? Don't you realize that sparks start fires, and fires DO die down. One day that spark will be all gone, and that is why so many people move on to the next partner. They keep looking for that spark thing. If they could only figure out that a SPARK is NOT what REAL love is about. You take real love, and when it blooms, it develops sparks. And when you are "sparking" with the right person--the one you truly love---it glows for all your lives.
Friends make the best spouses.

In my opinion the best relationship is a really good friendship, because you know who your dealing with, and you wouldn't be that close with them if it wasn't true. Even though it didn't work for them the first time around, who knows what the future holds. And just because it didn't work the first time, doesn't mean that it never will. Maybe she or he wasn't ready to be in that kind of situation with the other person. It is kind of weird being someones friend for years and attempt a more "emotional" friendship. It sounds like this young lady has been through alot as it is, just tell this guy to take it easy, when she feels like or can handle that kind of relationship, she'll want to do it again. Take Care!!

All love is "true" or it isn't love...and yes, a friendship can turn into love even if that type of spark wasn't there initially. Sometimes it takes people some time to get to know one another before they realize how well they fit together after all.

I think it can definitely turn into love...who are we to determine what LOVE is. No one has the right definition. Love is what you think it is: a beautiful connection, feeling right together, wanting to be side by side, laughing together....
You've helped her through a lot and I'm sure she appreciates it but you have to remember you are her friend first and need to give her her space if she asks for it. The spark is hard to get when you have been friends for so long before but it will come if there is true love there.
Good luck!

The best of relationships did start by friendships. Breaking up is normal. But eventually that relationship will mature, because they are there for eachother. What a better way to know and understand someone.

I believe so...that's actually how me and my boyfriend started dating...I was getting over my ex and he was a really good friend of mine..and then he told me how he felt and we dated and although I didn't feel as strongly for him as he did for me...I realized how great he was and how amazing he was...and because of that intimate friendship we had its turned into the best relationship i've ever been in and I can't think about being with anyone but him!

It's possible, of course, but neither of the two should bet on it if they've already tried dating once and it didn't work. If it does turn into more, that's wonderful, but for now you should just move on and cherish the friendship you've got.
