Talk to the doctor about your concerns. He might set up a meeting with the Anesthesiologist so he/she can answer all your questions.

Honestly, you have nothing to worry about. If anything you're getting antsy about the procedure itself. It's not fun by ANY means, but getting nervous about it won't help. After talking to bothe doctors, that should put your mind at ease

There's certain procedures you wouldn't mind being awake for....this ain't one of them

Good Luck with that....you'll be fine....

No, you can not be awake and you'll be thankful you weren't. If your anxious about the anesthesia or the procedure just ask your doctor about it and discuss your fears. They are used to this. They will be able to inform you and discuss it in a manner that will make you feel much more comfortable with it. He will probably prescribe a medication to help relax you prior to the surgery as well. You'll be fine, everyone is concerned before having surgery, it's only natural. Talking to the doctor or his staff is your best option. Good luck with your surgery and hope you will follow my advice.

I've had surgery before 5 times and I was so worried about not waking up afterwards and there really is nothing to worry about because the whole time they monitor everything and if there is a problem they'll immediately wake you up. The last surgery I had I stressed over nothing. You should have the Dr. explain everything to you in detail. Good luck!

Technology has come sooo far, you should be fine. I had to go under for orthadontic surgery the weekend after christmas and i was fine. I healed the next week. Every case is different, but you shouldn't be that scared.

It's alright to be scared. However, with today's anaesthetics, you will be fine. One second you're awake, and the next second you are waking up. It's grand.

When I got my wisdom teeth pulled I was put under anastesia but I never went completly asleep. I was still awake and concious to what was going on. I only felt weak and very numb. It was weird.

Good luck!

i know it's scary, but the chances of that happening are so rare, you shouldn't worry about it. you could ask to stay awake, but i highly doubt any oral surgeon would agree to that and you would probably pass out from the overwhelming pain. you will be fine...it's all okay. :-)
