With an AB parent and an O parent, the only possible blood types of the offspring are A or B. An O or an AB would indicate one or both of the parents are not the biological parent.

An A parent and a B parent could have an a child of any blood type (A, B, AB, or O) assuming the phenotype is all that is known. This is because with an A or a B parent, the phenotype is all that is known, so the A is assume genotype of AO, and the B is assumed BO to cover all possibilities. The Genotype isn't (in other words the A parent could be AA or AO). With an AB or an O person, the Genotype is known.

This will make more sense when you understand that each parent has a genotype with two allelles (each being either A, B, or O). Each parent will donate one to an offspring. The genotype is expressed as a phenotype - what we think of as a blood type. The following explains the mapping of a persons genotype to the expression (phenotype).

Gtype Ptype
AA Type A
AO Type A
BB Type B
BO Type B
AB Type AB
OO Type O

From this you can see the possibilities of a child getting one of genotypical traits from each of the parents.

According to this site, if one parent is AB and the other is O, the child could be type A or B.

If one parent is A and the other B, the child could be A, B, AB or O.

Note that these are not absolutes; go to the links on this page for further info.

I'm not sure blood type means a lot, as my blood is B positive, my husbands was A positive. Our son's is B negative, and our daughters is O positive. ALL something different!!!!!!!! So, don't count on finding out without taking an actual blood test and talking to a doctor about it.

Boy should just come straight out and ask his parents. U dont say wat blood type he is cause if he isnt A or B they arent his parents.
