I used to believe that this was a religious issue....I don't think it is anymore....I'm coming to the conclusion that it's all Willie Horton and Flag Burning.
How much of the opposition to gay marriage is based on sincere religious belief, and how much is based on a bread and circus act put on for "values" voters who they want to distract from what they've done to the economy and middle class?

Blondie....I appreciate your honesty.....but to be point blank...you are a sucker. And I can't for the life of me understand your values. You put the life of a fetus over the life of real people dieing in combat? I don't get it. You are my enemy....it's really that simple.

I think it's a little of both.. they do believe what their religion tells them but when they see how much political gain they can get with it they go for the gusto. It becomes a better magic trick than anything David Copperfield could pull off.

I believe there are people who are disgusted by the very thought of homosexuality. They would feel that way even if no religion said anything about it. When such people find out the the bible teaches against it, they use that as an excuse to justify their prejudices. (Of course they ignore all the other teachings of the bible concerning, love, acceptance, not judging, not being hypocrites, etc...) They think they can use the whole "family Values" cliche to get the majority of God believing, Family oriented, Christians on their side. Unfortunately they succeed sometimes, but I wish more of my fellow Christians were wise to what you just said. It's all meant to distract us from the more important issues.

Everything about homosexuality in every way is wrong and unnatural and it is an abominational sin unto God,it has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats.
You are right,it isn't a religious issue but it is a sin and a shameful sin at that.
God is not a circus act,God is real and ever so much in charge of everything, but it is those from TBN and alike who has turned the good news about God and the gospel of Jesus Christ into a circus act of a money racket to benefit themselves.
non-believers like atheists and irreligious thugs like christian haters and christian bashers are always whining and crying about not having or not having enough gay rights and abortion rights and things like that and they complain about how they are being discriminated against and how they are the minority here in America and they wonder why they struggle so much and if you would take a look at what they are doing and what they have done against christians its no wonder why atheists and other non-believers are looked down upon, frowned on and considered to be the minority here in America.
If you think christians are bad then try living under the rule of the Taliban or under the rule of Al-Qaida where you would not be allowed to speak against Islam and if you do then you are executed and where the ACLU can't do anything to save you because there wouldn't be an ACLU.
Truthfully, with attacking christians they let you off easy because they are taught to turn the other cheek and forgive you but radical Islam teaches you to avenge and destroy those who speaks or comes against their religion so be thankful that you do have religious rights and other rights that you along with many others here in America take for granted.

I'm a Republican and I base my voting on my religious values. I won't vote for someone who wants to kill innocent babies, do stem cell research or allow gay marriage. I may not approve of how the economy is, how the war is going, but I won't vote for a liberal feminist either. Sometimes, I think its the lesser of two evils, huh?

"Never has the English language created a word so descriptive: 'poli' meaning many, and 'tics' meaning blood-sucking creatures."
They're playing on people with those beliefs to get the votes. That's all it usually is.

Good point. I often think they are just using the intolerance of the mainstream religion to pile on votes and then do whatever they want.
