I have a friend who fancies an older woman, when he told me I thought "Good for him, he has been single all his life almost phobic of women and finally he has found someone". Surprised at my acceptance he went on to tell me that she was much older than him...I eventually found out she was 40 years older than him! I wish I could tell him that he could find someone his age that will make him happy but he is very very sceptical and tells me that this is the only woman who will ever even come close to understanding him, I think he may suffer from very low confidence but I would like to help him out. I don't know what to say to him about it however, it does seem wrong but its hard to put into words why....what should I say to him?

"Who are you to tell him who he should and shouldn't date." - I am not saying that, I honestly think he should do whatever he feels is right however there are certain factors such as insecurity, society, self doubt. She has children older than him! I just don't want her to betray or disappoint him as she is far more than capable to do that. I just want to have an unbiased open minded opinion as I am well known for my enormous distrust of the opposite sex and he wont listen to me but he man listen to people outside of his direct influence

Leave him alone!

Is he happy?

Who are you to tell him who he should and shouldn't date.

They are both legal adults!

Step back! not your business!

I am 15 years older than my husband. Age does not matter; however, 40 years is a bit too much, but NOT for the reasons you may think. Just leave it alone and let him find out on his own. Her health will deteriorate, and he will still be healthy. She will get wrinkled and slow, while he will still be youthful, and energetic. THEN, he will realize that it is time to find someone closer to his own age. Love is blind, you know. When you care for someone, you CARE for them. You don't see what others see. So, try to let this be HIS business.

If you are a true friend you will support him in his pursit to happiness, who are we to judge on what makes one happy, Remember every pot has its lid even if this ones been on the stove a little longer than usual. It is better to find true love than to have never found it at all. Besides what if she is the one and you destroy that for him how will you feel? what is one mans treasure is usually another mans junk!!!

You might think you're not telling him who he should date but you are, its really none of your business although i know you probably are scared for him... I know you're probably just trying to help but he probably really likes her, maybe she doesn't like him or maybe she is using him- who knows, but really think about it... there is nothing you can do and he probably won't listen to you even if you do confront him... good luck. =]
