I'm 24. I just had a colpscopy done to determine if I have pre-cancer or cancer cells in my cervix. I'm just kinda really scared right now...cause my results won't be in till Monday and my Gyn doctor is only telling me my options are a hystorectomy. I'm 24 and don't feel like I need one, plus I'm just upset that my results aren't in and he's trying to pressure me in to making a huge change to my body.

All he told me when I had the pap test was that I had abnormal cells, and he wanted me to come in for a biopsy. He performed yesterday and when I asked what the hell he was really doing it for he just told me that if the results turnedout to be pre-cancer or cancer he wanted to do a hystorectomy asap. I don't even know what the hell pre-cancer means.

BANCHE, I WAS 18 WHEN I HAD CERVICAL CANCER. MY LITTLE GIRL WAS 1 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME, THEY WENT IN AND CUT A PIECE OF MY CERVIX OUT, AND THEY SAID THAT IT MIGHT BE HARD TO HAVE MORE CHILDREN, WELL GUESS WHAT 5 YEARS LATER, I HAD 3 KIDS IN THREE YEARS, UNTIL I GOT FIXED. DON'T WORRY TO MUCH, WITH ALL OF THE TECHNOLOGY NOW, THEY CAN FIX IT. GOOD LUCK, I WILL SAY A PRAYER FOR YOU.

I know it's easy for me to say, but try to stay calm. It quite possibly is not cancer.
I can certainly understand why a woman your age would not want to forge ahead with a hysterectomy. But, if it is cancer, you don't want to drag your feet, either, as that will limit your options even more and is certainly dangerous.
If you're not comfortable with this doctor, ask for a second opinion. Cancer treatment is a huge deal, and you should feel like you can trust the person who is treating you. You might want to get a female doctor. Find out who is the head of gynecological oncology at your local hospital - that's your best bet.
Good luck to you!

My cousin was 21 when she had it. She caught it early enough where they took care of it by removing a part of her cervix and she now has a beautiful baby girl. I know it's scary but hang in there. If your doctor suggests a hysterectomy get a second opinion just to be on the safe side. You may need one, but you want to make sure that there are no other options. Good luck :-)

Sweetheart, i am going to communicate to you very heavily about this. maximum cancers, regrettably, is a few thing i have grow to be very conscious of in my professional existence and my personal existence. the reason that we do not listen a lot about maximum cancers in a youthful inhabitants is because maximum cancers is, epidemiologically, a ailment of an older age crew. that would not advise that teens do not get it. i'm in my early Nineteen Thirties and one in each and every of my maximum ideal associates is demise from maximum cancers, i.e. he's not any longer a survivor. The questions that you receives (from a youthful target audience) would ought to do with, is this contagious, how did you get it, why did you get it (as in case you one way or the different requested for it) what's treatment like, how has it replaced your view of existence (dumb crap like that). the most important aspect is that you do not ought to assert some thing which will be deleterious to you. Your health and treatment is way more beneficial major, in my humble opinion, than giving this communicate. I lost the most worthwhile man or woman in my existence to maximum cancers in the previous she grow to be 6 years previous to maximum cancers and that i do not communicate this nor do i trust compelled to help others comprehend the nature of maximum cancers. till they adventure maximum cancers on a very personal aspect, they are going to not in any respect understand what it means so do not waste your breath.

OK - wait for results of colposcopy. Then if you are in doubt, talk to another dr - get another opinion. I know of a girl who was 17 when diagnosed - age is on your side though, it is RARE! Did they do a HPV Test?
