I find that a cold cloth on the back of my neck or across my forehead helps. If possible, turn off all lights and anything that makes noise (unplug the phone, etc) and get into bed. If you relax enough, you may fall asleep.

I've been suffering with migraines for over 20 years and this usually works for me.

Feel better soon!

I used to suffer horribly from migraines, and I would have to lay in a dark room, in complete silence, with a hot compress to my forehead and temples. Unless you have a lot of spare time ( and no kids) I do not suggest this approach.
You should schedule an appointment with your doctor. Many different headaches are misdiagnosed as a migraine, so it helps to have a professional opinion. There are many new, safe medications that you can take, such as Imatrex, which is what my doctor prescribed me.
Migraines are serious business, and sometimes, if you have an unresolved migraine, it will set off more headaches. I wish you good luck

Migraine headaches are usually preceeded by an aura, such as seeing flashing or colored lights or other visual phenomena. The headaches are characterized by pounding, and are usually on one side of the head. They are often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and a sensitivity to light and sound. If your symptoms sound like this, then it is probably a migraine. But even an ordinary headache that doesn't go away in a day or two requires a doctor's care. See your doctor. Meantime, you might need something stronger for the pain, such as Ibuprofin, (Aleve) or extra-strength aspirin or Tylenol.

I get these types of headaches often, Mainly mine are due to stress, or not enough sleep, What I like to do is get a couple of Aleve or Advil and go lay on the couch or in bed for about 15 mins. Stay away from noise and light, The light normally makes it worse for me. Just take a little you time if you can. Normally my eyes get dots in my vision and oh gosh the pain when blinking and talking, coughing. ect.... I also try some tea caffine works good too.

I hope this helps

When I was at the dentist last week, the dental assistant was starting to get a migraine. Coffee has more caffeine than tea so drink a cup of that. She took a brown paper bag and took breaths in and out for a few minutes. She claimed it really helped her.

We all belong to the same club, If you have migraines please avoid anything that has white sugar, which means you have to be off soft drinks, all goodies, and anything that has sugar, i have given up on tea and coffee, i use splendor instead. Believe me it works, i read a book on migraine when i lived in Canada a great book, it explains how our insulin reacts, to sugar, and the activation of adrenalin due to fall in sugar level, i completely depend on fruits for sugar, people having migraines should have a change in life style and attitude. I have spent a lot of time recording my eating habits, my emotional health etc. I found that sugar and chocolates triggered my migraines, remember to workout regularly, it helps reduce stress, Ask your self if you are in tense situations, this causes migraines. Do you deal with your anger? if not you need to learn how to deal with your anger, also ask yourself if you have the strong need to excell, these are stressors and may trigger off migrains, i have been studying people who have regular migraine attacks.

Now how to deal with migrains when you have the symptoms, take Exedrins (i dont know if i have spelt it right) Migraine, they are really good, believe me, try it, but it is good to avoid medication i have always worked to be out of any medication. Also with pain relievers it is good to take a sleeping pill it really helps.
for good relief, i usually tie a cloth tightly over my forehead and use a hot water bottle take my medicines and go to bed locking all doors and windows, I know how a migraine person suffers. You will be ok believe me. All this has worked for me and i do not get it so often now.

drink a coke and take 3 advil. That usually helps me.
You need to have a doctor actually diagnose a migraine though. Make sure that is what's causing the pain.

That doesn't happen. Migraines are migraines, and other headaches are just that. Sometimes two glasses of water helps. My wife takes an enema, and says that works for her. If it is a caffeine rebound headache, then caffeine will help.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Excedrin Migraine works well if you do not want to see your doctor. Must make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients in it. Also laying down in complete darkness and without noise makes it easier to tolerate. I also put a warm pack on my neck (don't use electrical heating pad in case you fall asleep it may burn your skin).

But highly recommend seeing a doctor, they can diagnose and treat better.
