Some, but the bad far outweigh the good. Ever heard of war?

In my honest opinion religion has caused more harm than good all throughout history. Some of the bloodiest wars have been fought in the name of somebody's god or religion. The harm religion does is not balanced by the supposed good. Would I tell a dying person there is no god...of course I would...if they asked. If they are a believer then nothing I say will change their thoughts.

Why not tell him what you can believe in:

Maybe something like "be open minded, all things are possible. You may not be a member of a Church, you may not even believe in God, There may not even be a Heaven. But if there were, it might be based on something like:

Harmony is harmony, and disharmony is the only sin against God."

Don't outright tell him so, because the idea of heaven might give them comfort with their situation. If they ask your opinion, just tell them, but add "but I could be wrong."

Do you think denying God has an eternal punishment effect? What happens when you lose that wager?
