Americans - while very board and trawling the Internet I came across this?

I was on earlier and someone pointed me in the direction of a Christian site that was full of misconceptions about Wicca. I was less intregued by the content than I was by the use of these words.

"The horned god is a phallic (phallic refers to a man's poo-poo) deity of fertility".

In England poo poo means faeces and phallic means penis.

I understand that fanny in America means bottom and that in England it means vagina. (causing some humour in England)

Is this a similar difference in language or has this woman made a very funny mistake.

Also why so much fear over the term penis - are some people that afraid of anatomy?

There's nothing wrong with using the word penis. It's a part of a male's anatomy. Some sites don't want to use it because there are anti-porn blocking software programs out there that will automatically prevent you from visiting a site that has that word in it.

England has lots of different meanings for words. Take "f.a.g" for example, or "torch" or "water closet."
Language changes, it's par for the course.
