I'm 11 and I'm pretty small for my age. I heard that you stop growing after you get your period. Is that true? I really want to grow taller.

No dont worry at all - this is when you will do your growing starting from now!

You do most of your growing in the year after your period has started. This is growing as in height and also developing.

So dont worry at all you will get taller. Some people continue to grow up to the age of 18 - so you will get taller :)

No, you will not stop growing. Having your first period just shows that you have officially begun puberty. You will continue to grow until your late teens. For men its usually in their mid twenties. Don't panic.

Nope. Your period is the beginning of puberty. It happens because of a rush of hormones into your body, so I think you are more likely to recieve a growth spurt in the near distant future.

However, if your parents/grandparents are small as well, you may have a less chance to become bigger.

Whoever told you that is a liar. I got mine two summers ago and I've grown about 3 inches since then, which is normal, because I grow slowly. I'm five-three and am expected to be five-eight. Don't worry about it.

I have a stepdaughter age 12 and I can tell you the truth. You will grow as far as you think that you are a child and not a woman. And please believe me that happiness comes from your heart, from inside and you will be beautiful does not matter how tall you are!
