when it happens, pinch the top of your nose. ice may help. It is very inconvenient,

I had this a couple of years ago. I tried adding humidity to the air. But I ended up seeing a Ear, Nose & Throat doc that said there was a small blood vessel too close to the surface. He ended up chemically cauterizing it ( no heat and it did not hurt). Then it was gone!

They are usually caused by dry air due to forced air heating. If so then the use of a humidifier should help keep the nasal tissues moist. Another thing you can do is to take some white vasoline rub some up the nostril that bleeds to keep the tissues soft and moist. The dryness causes the tissues to crack and open and bleed. And as you have found out the nasal passages have a rich blood supply and will bleed like a banshee.

often nosebleeds are caused by your sinuses, they will just start bleeding unsuspectedly/sometimes keeping your head back and sqeezing right at the small part of the nose will help

Vitamin "C" deficiency can cause them, do you get enough of it? Or rather, try getting more, and see if it gets better. Cool mist humidifier with some hydrogen peroxide, run at night while you sleep might help too.

Your nose may be dry so you can get a moisture spray for it. You may blow it or pick it too much so you could stop that. You can use a dab of vaseline in your nose to keep it from getting dry and irritated.

Cotton balls. Tear two suitable cotton balls to size and put them in each nostril. Every once in awhile pull them out, clean the nose out, and replace some cotton balls.
