Well, if you felt that you were "not saved" for a certain amount of time, then if you came back, wouldn't you have to be re-baptized too? I think it would keep those kinds of churches awfully busy, as people can feel that they're not saved on a day-to-day basis. The Baptist churches are busy enough not recognizing infant baptism, let's not make it any worse!

That is like the prodigal son....I mean if you deny Christ, you need to rededicate your life to Him...pray and repent and ask for forgiveness and start following Him, and pray for wisdom and a desire to please Him.....But if you backslide, which many do, and are convicted of it---yes you need to ask forgiveness and repent.
Repentence is so important.
Hebrews 6:1-7
1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death,[a] and of faith in God, 2instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3And God permitting, we will do so.
4It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because[b]to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Just the asking hun. People do think they can walk away from being saved, but once you have given your life to God and been baptized...its for good. I try not to say this a lot here because we have a lot of "de" converts...none the less, it is true.

God is grace and you can ask for his forgiveness again. But you have to really mean it , you cant just say it and then go do it again. God does know your heart.

Salvation is only received upon death. You can lead a life in Christ, then turn from it. But if you don't come back to Christ before you die, you don't get to go to heaven. God wants everyone to be saved.
